In the sports betting world, nothing feels better than correctly picking an underdog to win. It’s something you can brag about, and more importantly, cash out on. With one of the UFC’s biggest events of the year taking place this Saturday, it’s time to start considering the underdog fighters and whether they deserve a bet.

UNDERDOGS DEAD IN THE WATER:

Holly Holm -1625

Valerie Letourneau -2000

Akbarh Arreola +425

Anthony Perosh +265

Is there anyone that believes that Holm has a realistic chance of beating Rousey? Because I’ve got some magic beans I’d love to pawn. It’s the same case with Valerie Letourneau against Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Both title challengers are outclassed and outgunned, physically and technically.

Akbarh Arreola is a mid-level veteran being brought in as a sacrificial lamb for hometown favorite Jake Matthews, who headlines the “Australia vs. the world” prelim portion of the night. Perosh is one of the most plodding 205ers in the division, and his propensity for getting knocked out cold does not bode well in his matchup against Gian Villante, who packs power in his punches.

UNDERDOGS WITH A FIGHTING CHANCE

Antonio Silva +195

Robert Whittaker -110

Kyle Noke +130

Bigfoot Silva nearly beat Mark Hunt in their first match, and there’s no reason why he wouldn’t be able to seal the deal in their second go-round. His ridiculous strength and power make him a real threat, but you’d have to ignore the fact that Hunt is much better technically and is every bit as powerful in his punches as Silva.

Whittaker is a promising 24-year old who will be facing a fighter with one of the highest ceilings in the middleweight division, Uriah Hall. However, Hall’s performances are have been wildly inconsistent, and it’s plausible that he puts on another uninspired performance and lets Whittaker steal it. Noke is pretty evenly matched with Peter Sobotta, and this feels like a tossup.

GOOD UNDERDOG

Jared Rosholt +105

Rosholt is a decorated wrestler facing Stefan Struve, a fighter with terrible takedown defense. Struve is a far better striker, which is why Rosholt will be taking every opportunity to get this fight to the ground. From there, he just has to control two of three rounds from top to nab a decision victory - which is something that seems likely.
