Lightweights

Jake Matthews -800

Akbarh Arreola +400

Over/under 2.5 rounds, over -110, under -110

Melbourne’s own Jake Matthews gets a literal hometown matchup against Mexico’s Akrbarh Areola, who’s coming off a decision loss to Francisco Trinaldo this past March. Matthews can be considered a decent prospect - he won his first eight pro fights, including the first two in the UFC by submission.

The UFC is giving Matthews a very beatable opponent to grease up the home crowd, and it’s reflected in the odds. Arreola is nothing special, while Matthews still has some solid upside.

Welterweights

Kyle Noke +130

Peter Sobotta -160

Over/under 2.5 rounds, over -220, under +185

Noke will be fighting in his home country for the second consecutive bout. Although he eked out a split decision victory over Jonavin Webb in his most recent bout, Noke has lost three of his past five after starting his octagon career with three straight wins. Sobotta is back in the UFC after being cut from the promotion after UFC 122. He’s won seven in a row to earn his ticket back to the big show.

Sobotta is a minor favorite based on Noke’s inconsistency and Sobotta’s recent hot streak. Still, this fight between two mid-tier 170-pounders should be relatively close.

Light Heavyweights

Anthony Perosh +265

Gian Villante -350

Over/under 1.5 rounds, over +120, under -140

The 41-year old Perosh has earned all 15 of his wins by way of stoppage, but has also been knocked out in six of his nine losses. The Australian is the epitome of an all-or-nothing fighter. That doesn’t bode well for his bout against Gian Villante, who is a powerful puncher with eight KOs in 13 career victories.

Perosh is a lower-rung light heavyweight who is still on the roster because his willingness to engage in entertaining scraps, but he’s close to the end of his career. Villante could very well be the guy that punches “The Hippo’s” ticket out of the UFC.

Flyweights

Richie Vaculik -110

Danny Martinez -110

Over/under 2.5 rounds, over -200, under +170

Two 125-pounders in a desperate need of a win meet to earn some job security. Vaculik, a semifinalist on “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” is 1-2 in the UFC since the show. Martinez, a former WEC fighter, has has lost three in a row in two weight classes. In a thin division like flyweight, failing to earn meaningful wins will get you cut much sooner than the larger weight classes.
