2017-UFC-Desmond-Green-vs-Josh-Emmett-Betting-Odds

Desmond Green will make his UFC debut, as he takes on Josh Emmett at UFC 210 on April 8 in Buffalo. Not many people get to make their debuts in front of their home fans, but that will be the case for Green who is from Rochester, New York. Green will be taking on Emmett who is unbeaten in his career. This fight between Green and Emmett is one of eight on the preliminary card and can be seen on FS1.

Desmond Green (19-5)

Green is probably best known for competing in Bellator, as he joined the organization in 2013 after he beat UFC veteran Henry Martinez. Green fought in the featherweight tournament but he lost in the quarterfinals. He rebounded with a win over Angelo Sanchez at Bellator 105.

Green made his mark at Bellator 110 when he made it all the way to the featherweight tournament final where he lost to Daniel Weichel. Green was released from Bellator in 2014.

Green signed on with Titan Fighting Championship late in 2014 and he won his debut, as he defeated Miguel Torres at Titan FC 31. He beat Steven Siler at Titan FC 32 to win the featherweight title. He lost his first title defense, as he was beaten by split decision by Kurt Holobaugh. He went 5-1 in his next six fights in Titan before being signed by the UFC in 2017.

Green now gets a chance in the UFC and he will be fighting in front of family and friends in Buffalo. “I really believe it was a blessing from God that I was able to get to the UFC and be able to fight basically in my own backyard,” Green said to the UB Spectrum. “There’s certain things you just know in life and I’ve always known this was my calling, and I knew I was supposed to be in the UFC. Every step that I’ve taken for the past six years, it’s kind of been to get here. I’ve always had this in mind.”

Josh Emmett (11-0)

Emmett made his UFC debut last May, as he defeated Jon Tuck. His second fight in the UFC was against Scott Holtman in December and it was Emmett winning by unanimous decision.

Emmett wrestled at Menlo College, and after getting out of college he joined Urijah Faber’s Ultimate Fitness.

Emmett started his career with a win against Emilio Gonzales in the Capitol Fighting Championships; Emmett went to WFC and took out Mike Ryan in the first round at WFC 6. He then fought regularly in the WFC and won at WFC 7, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16. He then got his big break as he took out Jon Tuck on short notice at UFC Fight Night 87 last May. He followed that up with the win over Holtzman at UFC on Fox 22 in December of last year. The win over Holtman was by unanimous decision as all three judges scored it 29-28.

UFC Picks

Emmett has been able to use his wrestling skills to great advantage so far in his career but he is unlikely to win this fight on the mat, as Green is an outstanding wrestler. I think Green and win his debut and hand Emmett his first loss.
