2017-UFC-Sarah-vs-Ashlee-Betting-Odds

Sarah Moras makes her return to the octagon on Saturday, September 9, as she takes on Ashlee Evans-Smith at UFC 215 in Edmonton, Alberta. Moras is 4-2 in her career, but she hasn’t fought since 2015 when she lost to Jessica Andrade. Evans-Smith is 5-2 in her career and she is coming off a loss to Ketlen Vieira in April. The fight between Moras and Evans-Smith is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a five-fight main pay-per-view card that features Demetrious Johnson taking on Ray Borg. Let’s take a look at Moras vs. Evans-Smith and UFC picks.

Sarah Moras (4-2, 1-1 UFC)

Moras has just six pro fights but she has fought some good competition, as she beat Julianna Pena in 2012, lost to Raquel Pennington in 2012 and lost to Jessica Andrade in 2015. The last win for Moras came in July of 2014, as she defeated Alexis Dufresne. Moras has fought only twice in the last five years.

Moras said to The Province that she is anxious to get back into action. “I’m ready to get in there, get paid – hopefully get a bonus – and show them who I am because I feel like I haven’t in my last couple fights,” said Moras, “I just want people to see what I’m made of.”

Moras has had a lot of injury issues and at 29-years old she needs to get a win on Saturday night. “It’s been hard because I’ve had a few injuries,” said Moras, “They haven’t kept me out of the gym, but they’ve kept me out of cage – so I’m happy to be healthy again. I learned about the fight a while ago – when they announced that there was going to be a UFC event in Edmonton, I knew I was going to be fighting on that card – so I’ve really been focused and getting ready for it.”

Moras said she is finally at full strength for a fight, something she hasn’t been able to say in a long time. “I feel healthy going into this fight, which I haven’t felt in a while, so I’m really excited to be honest; that’s how I’m feeling right now.”

Ashlee Evans-Smith (5-2, 2-2 UFC)

Evans-Smith has fought four times in the UFC and gone 2-2. She lost to Pennington, just as Moras did. Evans-Smith came back from that loss to defeat Marion Reneau and Veronica Macedo. The last fight for Evans-Smith was a loss to Vieira in April.

Evans-Smith has been a pro since 2013 and she has three knockouts.

UFC Picks

This should be an entertaining bout, as both fighters look evenly matched. Moras has not fought in over two years but she does have talent. She is not afraid to go to the mat and look to get a submission. Evans-Smith is known as a good wrestler so she won’t be afraid of doing battle with Moras on the mat. If this turns into a striking battle then Evans-Smith would have the edge but I just don’t see that happening. I think Evans-Smith will try and prove she is the better wrestler and that could be a mistake. I think Moras will force this fight to the ground and find a way to get the win.
