Gian Villante might not be anything more than mid-tier light heavyweight, but his fights have been consistently entertaining. This Saturday, the lumbering slugger will meet fellow puncher Francimar Barroso in a scrap that should feature plenty of stinging power shots. This isn’t a contender fight, and neither guy is ranked - it’s just a good ol’ fashioned slugfest that should be a lot of fun to watch.

Let’s take a look at the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu and break down your best betting options for the tilt.

Gian Villante +155
Francimar Barroso -185

Matchup Breakdown

Villante is a slow, robotic kickboxer with real power. He’s anything but pretty on the feet - stiff is the best way to describe him - but he connects with real damage. Despite his awkward striking, the 32-year old is actually quite technical, using dynamic combinations to set up his lethal round kick.

Lack of athleticism aside, Villante runs into two major problems when he fights: he tires easily and gets hit far too often. He evades strikes at just a 45% clip, and is easily baited into a brawl. While his chin is good enough to get through a firefight, Villanate has been knocked out in four of his nine losses. As for his cardio, it’s not uncommon to see the big man heaving by the third round.

At 37, Barroso’s best years are probably behind him, but the Nova Uniao product is in fantastic shape by light heavyweight standards. A strong puncher himself, Barroso has notched eight KOs in 19 victories. However, it wouldn’t be smart for the Brazilian to try and get into punching war with a seasoned brawler like Villante.

Barroso does his best work when he is wrestling and wearing down opponents - he is a solid grinder who softens guys up on the mat. A solid top position grappler and scrambler, Barroso will have a clear advantage on the ground - provided he gets it there.

UFC Betting Tips

Though it’s not difficult to close the distance against Villante, getting him to the mat is a different story. The stats to note here is that Barroso lands takedowns at a 24% rate, while Villante defends 82% of them. Villante should be able to shuck off Barroso’s level changes and box his way to victory.

UFC Odds Pick: Villante to win at -185
