Julio Arce and Dan Ige will be making their UFC debuts at UFC 220 on Saturday, in one of the four preliminary bouts on FS1. You may be familiar with Arce and Ige, as they were both on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Arce is taking this fight on short notice, as he will be replacing Charles Rosa, who withdrew due to injury. This bout is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a five-fight main pay-per-view card, featuring Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou.

Julio Arce (13-2, UFC debut)
Most of the fights for Arce in his career came in Ring of Combat where he went 9-0. Arce was last seen in Dana White’s Contender Series 5, as he knocked out Peter Petties. Both of the losses suffered by Arce were to UFC veteran Brian Kelleher.
Arce has three wins by knockout in his career and four wins by submission. He has two first round finishes.
Dan Ige (8-1, UFC debut)
Ige was last seen in Dana White’s Contender Series 3, as he submitted Luis Gomez. Ige has fought in a number of MMA organizations in his career, including Legacy FC and Titan FC.
Ige has two knockout wins in his career and four submission victories. He has three first round finishes.
Ige said to khon2.com that he is thrilled to be fighting in the UFC. “This is something I dreamed of and visualized for the past 10 years.” Ige said. “I think eight years ago BJ Penn and Frankie Edgar fought in Boston and I was like ‘This is what I wanna do.’ I watched those guys fight and I was like ‘Man I know I’m gonna be in there.’ Nobody else saw it coming then because I wasn’t very good. If I persevered and finally here I am today.”
Ige is Hawaiian and he is excited to represent his state. “I’m pumped to represent, I just bought myself a Hawaiian flag on Amazon.” Ige added.
UFC Picks
We have seen a little bit of Arce and Ige, as they were both in the Contender Series and each looked pretty good. Arce has a bit of a disadvantage stepping in with just three weeks of notice and that might be the difference in what should be a close fight. The two losses for Arce both came to Kelleher and Ige looks a lot like Kelleher. Ige relies heavily on his ground game and that should give him the edge in this bout against Arce. There is no doubt that Arce has the edge in striking, but I don’t know that this fight stays standing for long, as Ige will be looking for the quick takedown. I think this fight will be decided on the mat and I think Ige has the edge there. I am also surprised at the price on this fight, as I think Ige should be favored, or at worst the fight should be a pick. I will take Ige to get the win in this bout.
