Kyle Bochniak will have the home crowd edge, as he takes on Brandon Davis at UFC 220 on Saturday in Boston. Bochniak is a Massachusetts native and he will be fighting at TD Garden in Boston for the second time in his career, as he lost a unanimous decision to Charles Rosa in 2016. Davis will be making his UFC debut after fighting in Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. This bout is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a five-fight main pay-per-view card, featuring Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou.

Kyle Bochniak (7-2, 1-2 UFC)
Bochniak lost his UFC debut to Rosa in 2016 and he has split his other two fights, as he won a split decision against Enrique Barzola late in 2016 and he lost by unanimous decision to Jeremy Kennedy in July of 2017.
You can make a strong case that Bochniak needs to win this fight against Davis to stay in the UFC. Bochniak said to FanSided MMA that he realizes what is at stake. “I’ve been underperforming a little bit. Overthinking situations and overthinking things. I just have to be my natural self and just go in there and have a full night of the true fighter I am. I’m the type of person who thinks his back is against the wall. I always have to prove to myself that I belong. I feel even more so right now because if I don’t do a good performance in this fight that I could potentially get cut.”
Bochniak is very motivated to stay in the UFC. “I want another UFC contract. I want to put on a show. I want to prove to myself that I am the person I am and go in there and get another UFC contract and provide for my family. I’m ready to lay everything on the line and whatever happens, happens. I’m ready.”
Bochniak has two wins by knockout in his career and two submission victories.
Brandon Davis (8-3, UFC debut)
Davis will be making his UFC debut after defeating Austin Arnett in Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Davis began his career in Summit FC and went 5-3. He then won a fight in Islands Fights and he also won in Fight Force International before the win against Arnett in the Contender Series.
Davis has two knockout wins in his career and two submission victories.
UFC Picks
Bochniak said to FanSided MMA that he expects this to be a striking battle. “It’s a great matchup. We’re both hungry, we’re both strikers and we like to throw down. I think the fans are going to get what they want. This is the type of fight I like to be in. I think stylistically it’s good for me.”
Davis is listed as a slight favorite in this fight, but I don’t see it. Who has Davis even fought, yet beaten? He was fighting in some Island Series and Summit FC against weak competition. Bochniak has at least fought quality UFC fighters and has a previous UFC win. I think Bochniak should be favored in this fight and I will take him to get the win.
