It’s hard not to get excited about young, undefeated heavyweights with a 100% KO ratio. That’s Tai Tuivasa, a native Australian whose won all six of his pro fights in KOs in the first round. Coming off a successful UFC debut, the 24-year old will meet Cyril Asker this Saturday on the pay-per-view portion of UFC 221 in Perth.

Tuivasa very much fits the stereotype of hefty bomber. At 6’2”, he’s not a tall heavyweight, yet tips the scale at 265 pounds. He could certainly stand to lose some weight, as his cardio doesn’t last beyond five rounds. Luckily for the Tuivasa, his monstrous knockout power has given him a crutch as the man has never seen a second round.
But should it get past the seventh minute, this could get really sloppy, really quick. Asker is no tin can, as he proved with a dominant win over Dmitry Smoliakov, but he’s lacking a lot of physical tools to be anything more than a lower tier heavy. The 32-year old doesn’t pack a ton of pop, nor is he very athletic.
Asker will have to punch his way into the clinch as soon as possible and quickly drain Tuivasa’s energy meter. It’s debatable whether he can muscle Tai to the ground though - “Silverback” is even shorter and paunchier than his opponent. If Tuivasa can shove him off and keep this fight at range, Asker is at the mercy of a true killshot hitter.
