Darrell Horcher is a big favorite to defeat Devin Powell on Sunday at UFC Fight Night 112 in Oklahoma. Horcher is 12-2 in his career but he has not fought in more than a year, as he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in April of 2016, while Powell is 8-2 and coming off a loss to Drakkar Klose in January. This fight is one of four on the FS2 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a six-fight main card which features Kevin Chiesa vs. Kevin Lee. Let’s take a look at Horcher vs. Powell and UFC predictions.

Darrell Horcher (12-2, 0-1 UFC)
Horcher is 12-2 in his career but he hasn’t fought in more than a year, as he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in April of last year. Horcher is known for his striking ability, as he has four knockouts in his last eight wins.
Horcher is coming off a long layoff because of injuries he suffered in a motorcycle crash. He said to Fox Sports that he wasn’t even cleared to get back into action until earlier this year. “I didn’t get cleared to grapple until January. In February, I was doing a grappling competition and I was cleared to fight in March.”
Horcher said that he is nervous but excited to get back into action. “Of course, I’m nervous. I had to learn how to run again. I had to learn how to jump again. I walked funny. I have stage fright so I get anxiety before fights. I’m excited, but I’m nervous at the same time.”
Devin Powell (8-2, 0-1 UFC)
Powell is 8-2 in his career and 0-1 in the UFC after losing in January to Drakkar Klose. Powell didn’t look good in the loss to Klose, as he was dominated in losing a unanimous decision. He said to fosters.com that the loss has motivated him to beat Horcher. “You can’t get too invested in a win or a loss,” Powell said, “A loss sometimes can be the best thing for you. It motivated me a lot.”
Powell said that he learned that he needed to do more work so he joined UFC fighter Charles Rosa to train at American Top Team. ATT has three current UFC champions, Tyron Woodley, Amanda Nunes and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. “I got to train with all these champions, and just knowing that I can go there any time and that I belong there.”
Powell said that he expects to get into a quick striking battle with Horcher. “He’s a lefty, which will be my first time fighting a lefty,” Powell said. “We’ll go in and get into a fistfight, just like I always do.”
UFC Picks
I am very surprised the odds on this fight are so high, as I don’t see Horcher as a 3-1 favorite. Horcher hasn’t fought in more than a year and we just don’t know how he will come back. I don’t know that Powell is a great fighter but he shouldn’t be a big underdog in this fight. The odds are simply too tempting, so I will take a shot with Powell at the big price.
