Brad Scott (11-4, 3-3 UFC)
Scott has alternated wins and losses ever since he made his UFC debut in 2012. He lost his first fight against Robert Whittaker late in 2012 but bounced back to defeat Michael Kuiper in 2013. He lost to Claudio Silva in 2014 but beat Dylan Andrews in 2015. He lost to Krzystof Jotko in 2016 but bounced back to defeat Scott Askham in March of this year, winning by split decision. You may have noticed that Scott only fought once each year. He is fighting twice in the same year for the first time 2012.
Scott has good striking ability and he has won nearly half of his fights by knockout but he hasn’t won by knockout since 2012.
Scott, who is from Britain, said to The Sun that he hopes for some crowd support in Mexico. “It’s going to be a good experience to fight in a different country and a new challenge dealing with the difference in altitude as well. It’ll be awesome to get a win overseas and make a bit of a name for myself in front of a new set of fans.”
Scott said that he has watched Hermansson and predicts an exciting bout. “Jack Hermansson is a good fighter. I watched him on Cage Warriors; I’ve seen him in action live and met him in person. This is going to be a really good fight. We’re aggressive fighters; we’ll both come forwards so it’ll be an exciting fight.”
Jack Hermansson (15-3, 2-1 UFC)
Hermansson made his UFC debut last year and beat Scott Askham by unanimous decision. Hermansson lost to Cezar Ferreira late last year but he bounced back to knock out Alex Nicholson in May of this year. This is a quick turnaround for Hermansson but it is not like he had to do much work in the win over Nicholson, as he won that fight in the first round.
Hermansson has won most of his fights by knockout and this should be a striking battle, as Hermansson has been excellent in his career avoiding takedowns. He has five first-round finishes in his career.
UFC Picks
I think the style of this fight favors Hermansson who looks to be the better striker. Both of these fighters are probably going to look to avoid taking this fight to the mat and that should play into the hands of Hermansson who has more power. The odds on this fight haven’t come out yet, but I would take Hermansson unless he is listed as more than a 2-1 favorite and I think that is unlikely.
