UFC Fight Night 115 Odds - Marcos Rogerio de Lima vs. Saparbek Safarov Preview

UFC---Saparbek-Safarov-vs.-Marcos-Rogerio-de-Lima-bm

Don’t be surprised if the light heavyweight slugfest between Marcos Rogerio de Lima and Saparbek Safarov steals the show this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 115 in Rotterdam. Both men are noted headhunters, with a combined 17 KOs between them. In the case of Safarov, it’s an opportunity to bounce back from his first career loss - which just happened to be his UFC debut.

Fight Breakdown

Safarov broke into the UFC as an undefeated Russian slugger, but was knocked out in his debut after an all-out firefight with Gian Villante. In that matchup, the Russian showed a good chin, as he was rocked in the first only to come back and stun Villante. While he eventually succumbed to punches in the second, much of his defeat can be attributed to a left knee injury that left him open to an obvious line of attack.

De Lima is not unlike Villante in the fact that he’s a willing brawler. In fact, he is much crisper with his striker and perhaps even more powerful as a kickboxer. Three of his four UFC wins have come by way of knockout, and each of those came in the first round.

Where the Brazilian is especially vulnerable is on the mat, as his last three losses have come by way of submission. However, he won’t really have to worry about being taken down by Safarov, who has never really committed to grappling in his previous fights.

In a pure sparring match, De Lima is the more polished fighter. His problem is that he’s really only a one-round fighter. He’s missed weight on a few occasions, indicating that the weight cut really takes a lot out of him. There’s an opportunity for Safarov to push him into deep waters, but considering that the Russian has never seen a third round this seems unlikely.

UFC Betting Tips

This could honestly go either way - both men will enter the cage looking for the knockout. While it’s tough to tell who will connect first, what we do know is that neither Safarov or De Lima waste much time getting down to it. Take the rounds under here.
