Zabit Magomedsharipov will make his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 115 on Saturday, September 2 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, as he takes on Nick Hein. Magomedsharipov is 12-1 in his career, while Hein is 14-2-1. This fight is expected to be placed on the undercard on FS1, leading up to the main event which features Alexander Volkov taking on Stefan Struve. Let’s look at Hein vs. Magomedsharipov and UFC picks.

Bet on UFC at BookMaker.eu

Nick Hein (14-2-1, 4-1 UFC)

This will be the featherweight debut for Hein who has been fighting at 155 pounds since he joined the UFC in 2014. Hein has won four of his five UFC fights, with the only defeat coming to James Vick. Hein is coming off a win last September, as he defeated Tae Hyun Bang by unanimous decision.

Hein has 14 wins in his career with most of his wins coming by decision. He has four wins by submission and just one by knockout.

Zabit Magomedsharipov (12-1, UFC debut)

Magomedsharipov will be making his UFC debut at 26-years old. He was last seen in the Absolute Championship Berkut 45, where he scored knocked out Valdines Silva. 10 of his 12 wins have come by finish.

Magomedsharipov said to FOX Sports that he has been working toward a shot in the UFC for a long time. “This is a reason why I move from ACB because I want to fight in the UFC. I’m ready to fight anybody in my division at 145 [pounds].”

Magomedsharipov has received high praise from some of his teammates including former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and Marlon Moraes. “Zabit might be one of the best guys I have ever trained with,” Edgar said. “He can do it all with zero holes in his game.”

Magomedsharipov is from Dagestan, the same country of lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov. Magomedsharipov said that he can handle anyone in the UFC. “For my pro fights, 10 have been finished in the first round. I’m ready,” Magomedsharipov said to FOX Sports.

His coach, Mark Henry is the coach for a number of top fighters including Edgar, Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza. “He’s not a top 10 guy, he’s a top five guy,” Henry said to FOX Sports. “He could be champ today. I’ve seen a natural in baseball, football, boxing, but never MMA. Just too many disciplines. He’s the first natural MMA fighter I’ve ever seen. He can do it all. He has all the other intangibles, too. Heart, toughness, gas, chin, mean streak, work ethic, sparring partner, size.”

UFC Picks

It will be interesting to see what oddsmakers do with this fight. Hein has far more UFC experience but all indications are that Magomedsharipov is a future star. We don’t see that many fighters who are favored in their UFC debuts but I think Magomedsharipov will be listed as a solid favorite. Hein has been good in his career but I don’t think he has the talent to handle someone like Magomedsharipov. I will lay the price and expect Magomedsharipov to get the win. I also think he is likely to get a knockout, so taking the rounds under is also worth a look.
