UFC Fight Night 115 Odds - Rustam Khabilov vs. Desmond Green Betting Preview

UFC---Rustam-Khabilov-vs.-Desmond-Green-bm

Rustam Khabilov isn’t flashy, nor is he much of a finisher. He is, however, one of the most underappreciated lightweights on the roster. The Dagestani grinder will attempt to notch his fifth straight victory when he meets Desmond Green this Saturday at UFC Fight Night 115. Green is riding a five-fight winning streak of his own, including a successful UFC debut in his last outing.

Fight Preview

Khabilov embodies many of the traits that have made the recent influx of Dagestani fighters so successful. He is a good wrestler with extraordinary natural strength. Though Khabilov isn’t a fluid striker, he’s not uncomfortable on the feet either - and there is undeniable power behind his shots.

Still, Khabilov rarely wins fights with his fists: his bread and butter is wrestling. He’s got great range on his takedowns and finishes with authority. The 30-year old is especially good with back takes, and will happily spend an entire round latched onto a fighter and pummeling him from behind.

Despite turning pro in 2012, Green has fought an astounding 25 times. Coming off a tough split decision win in his UFC debut against Josh Emmett, Green has a huge opportunity to make a name for himself against a well-respected vet.

There’s no way Green could have racked up 20 wins in five years if he wasn’t physically talented. Though he can be wild at times, Green maintains a hard pace that is difficult to keep up with. His ability to draw opponents into a battle of attrition is probably his best skill, since Green has yet to establish a strong fighting identity.

UFC Betting Tips

While Green is a promising fighter, he’s making a big jump in competition here. Beating Josh Emmett by majority decision is one thing, fighting Khabilov on European soil is another. On top of that, Green’s habit of getting into dogfights plays right into Khabilov’s fighting style. Choose the best value between the two most likely outcomes here: Khabilov to win or rounds over.

UFC Odds Pick: Khabilov to win at -325
