Damian Stasiak (10-4, 2-2 UFC)
Stasiak made his UFC debut in 2015 in his home country of Poland and lost a unanimous decision to Yaotzin Mez. He bounced back to win his next two fights, as he submitted Filip Pejic in April of last year and he submitted Davey Grant in October of last year. Stasiak couldn’t follow up that success, as he is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Pedro Munhoz in May of this year.
Stasiak has been a pro since 2011 and he has seven wins by submission and one knockout. He has four first round finishes.
Brian Kelleher (17-8, 1-1UFC)
Kelleher made his UFC debut in June of this year and he got a “Performance of the Night” win against Iuri Alcantara. Kelleher came back quickly and fought just seven weeks later and lost to Marlon Vera by first round submission.
Kelleher has been a pro since 2011 and he has eight submission wins and six wins by knockout.
UFC Picks
This fight has the potential to be one of the best ones on the preliminary card at UFC Fight Night 118. Stasiak is an exciting fighter who usually looks to get a quick takedown, while Kelleher is also a fighter who wants to go for the early kill. Stasiak is going to have a huge home crowd edge but that edge didn’t do him any good in his first UFC fight that he lost to Meza. Stasiak has more UFC experience, as he has four UFC fights, while Kelleher has just two.
The odds on this fight should be close to a pick but oddsmakers may choose to give Stasiak the edge simply because he is fighting at home. I don’t know that either of these fighters should be listed as a big favorite, as this fight looks very even.
The value in this fight may be on the rounds total. Both fighters have been going under the rounds total on a regular basis. Four of the last six fights by Stasiak have ended in submission, while the last two Kelleher fights have not made it out of the first round. Nine of the last 11 Kelleher fights have ended in a knockout or submission. Both Stasiak and Kelleher have shown in their careers that they are submission specialists, so I don’t’ see this fight going the distance. I will take the rounds to go under the total.
