Antonio Carlos Junior will look to win his fourth straight fight, as he takes on Jack Marshman at UFC Fight Night 119 on Saturday in Brazil. Junior will have a big home crowd edge against a fighter in Marshman who has won two of his last three bouts. The fight between Junior and Marshman is one of three on the preliminary card on FS2 leading up to a six-fight main card on FS1 that features Derek Brunson vs. Lyoto Machida.

Antonio Carlos Junior (8-2-1, 5-2-1 UFC)

Junior is one of those rare fighters who has done almost all of his work in the UFC. He was 3-0 when he made his UFC debut and won TUF Brazil 3 in 2014. He has gone 5-2-1 in the UFC with most of his wins coming thanks to his submission game. Junior is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt and he is always looking for a takedown and a submission. He has won his last three bouts, beating Marvin Vettori, Eric Spicely and Leonardo Guimaraes.

Junior has seven submission wins in his career, four of which came in the first round.

Jack Marshman (22-6, 2-1 UFC)

Marshman has fought 28 times in his career, but just three times in the UFC. He made his UFC debut last November and knocked out Magnus Cedenblad. The second fight for Marshman was a knockout loss to Thiago Santos in February but Marshman bounced back in July to defeat Ryan Janes. Marshman has 13 knockout wins in his career and five submission wins.

Marshman’s only UFC defeat came against another Brazilian fighter, as Thiago Santos beat him in February. Marshman said that Santos and Junior are fighters with different styles. "But they're two completely different styles of fighters. (Carlos) is just going to want to take it to the ground and I'm just going to want to keep it standing.” Marshman said to the media recently, "I think I'll have a massive advantage there."

Marshman said that fighting in Brazil with the crowd against him will not be an issue. "If it's a hostile crowd in Brazil, I'm actually looking forward to it, to be honest.” Marshman said to BBC Sport Wales. "It's a big fight for me and I'm very confident. I don't think about my numbers [of wins and losses] - I just want to go out there and put on a good show."

UFC Picks

I am really surprised at the odds on this fight, as I give Marshman a real chance to win. There is no question that Junior is excellent on the mat and he has the home crowd edge but Marshman has never been submitted in his career and Marshman definitely has the edge in striking. And the longer this fight goes the more Marshman has a chance to wear down Junior. I don’t take many big underdogs but I think Marshman is worth a shot at the big price in this bout.
