It’s time to see whether Pedro Munhoz and Rob Font can enter the top 10 at 135 pounds. The bantamweights enter their UFC 119 matchup on winning streaks, setting up a high-stakes bout for the 14-2 fighters. On paper, it’s a grappler vs. striker matchup, with Munhoz and Font assuming the respective roles. Still, this one does seem like it could get wild, especially with Font’s knockout ability.

Let’s take a look at the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu and break down your betting options.

Fight Preview

The 30-year old Font has evolved into a scary fighter. He’s last six victories have been finishes, with four knockouts and two submissions. The power the Team Sityodtong rep possesses is very real, as all four of the aforementioned KOs came before the end of Round 2.

We also know that Font can take it as well as he can dish it. In his three-round trench war with noted power puncher John Lineker, Font acquitted himself well against a former title challenger. Where he once a bit awkward on the feet, Font is now fluid and aggressive. He cuts angles, moves his head and throws with power.

If Font keeps up with the same rapid progression, Munhoz might be in for a long night. The American Top Team rep has struggled against advanced strikers, and Font seems to be heading in that direction. While Munhoz turned some heads by giving Raphael Assuncao an extremely tough test in a short-notice UFC debut, the 31-year old hasn’t really evolved since then.

Still, it’s clear that he can elevate his game in certain matchups. He’s got solid Muay Thai, not particularly advanced but it can’t be considered a weakness either. Where the Brazilian really shines is on the mat. He is gritty enough to get into firefights, and does possess the power to knock down his foes.

Where Munhoz is most dangerous is on the mat. He’s got great natural strength and submission savvy, which has led to eight submissions in 14 career wins. A stocky, compact bantamweight, Munhoz is adept at using a low center of gravity to get it to the ground.

UFC Betting Tips

This is a case of an evolving fighter meeting another that seems to have plateaued. Font’s standup already seems well beyond Munhoz’s, and that’ll likely be the difference maker in this matchup. While he might not notch another knockout, Font should get the victory.

UFC Odds Pick: Font to win at -185
