UFC Fight Night 122 Odds - Yanan Wu vs. Gina Mazany

2017-MMA-Undercard-Fight-preview-Wu-vs-Mazany-betting-Odds

Yanan Wu makes her UFC debut on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 122 in China, as she takes on Gina Mazany. Wu is 9-1 in her career and she has been impressive, but her level of competition has been weak. Mazany is 4-1 in her career, including 0-1 in the UFC. She did not look good against Sara McMann in February, as McMann won by first round submission. The fight between Wu and Mazany is one of eight on the preliminary card on UFC Fight Pass, leading up to a four-fight main card, also on UFC Fight Pass, featuring Michael Bisping vs. Kelvin Gastelum. Keep in mind that UFC Fight Night 122 starts very early on Saturday Eastern Time, so you may want to make your wagers on Friday night.

Yanan Wu (9-1, UFC debut)

Wu has been a pro since 2013 with all of her wins coming against lower level competition. Wu has looked good, winning six times by knockout, but we really don’t know if she is up to taking on UFC competition. Wu does have five first round finishes.

Wu will have the home crowd in her favor, so if this fight goes to a decision the crowd could be a factor.

Gina Mazany (4-1, 0-1 UFC)

Mazany won her first four pro fights in impressive fashion but she was shown to be out of her league in the loss to McMann. Mazany does train in Las Vegas with a good team that includes former women's bantamweight champion Miesha Tate. Mazany should have the edge on the mat but she will have to avoid getting into a striking duel with Wu.

Mazany has been a pro since 2008 and she has two wins by knockout and one by submission. Four of her five fights have ended in the first round. It is worth noting that Mazany took a three-year break from MMA action from 2013 to 016.

Mazany did have to cut weight for her fight against McMann and she said to FanSided that the weight loss was a factor. “To be perfectly honest my last fight I had a pretty tough weight cut because of the short notice. I got a little sick and stuff, to get everything all good again. But I’m feeling great now I’m actually having a proper weight cut this time. It’s going killer now. It was just between getting healthy and getting a fight scheduled so I’m pretty stoked.”

Mazany said the matchup against Wu is a good one for her. “It couldn’t be a better matchup for me. She’s an aggressive striker. I’ve been working on my striking, I feel very comfortable standing up, wrestling and on the ground. One advantage I think I have on her, over at Xtreme Couture we really focus on wrestling, wall-wrestling and our grappling.”

UFC Picks

Wu will be looking to put on a show against Mazany but that might not be easy considering Wu has yet to beat anyone of note. When Wu stepped up a little bit in competition she was knocked out by Invicta champion Yana Kunitskaya. I think Mazany has the edge in this fight so I will take her to get the win and I also think taking the rounds to go under is worth considering.
