2018-UFC-MMA-Undercard-Fight-preview-Krause-vs-White-Bet-Online

A pair of UFC veterans will meet on Sunday, January 14 at UFC Fight Night 124, as James Krause takes on Alex White. Krause is 24-7 in his career and on a three-fight winning streak, while White is 12-3 and has won two of his last three bouts. This fight is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a four-fight main card, also on FS1, featuring Jeremy Stephens vs. Doo Ho Choi. Let’s look at the bout between Krause and White and UFC picks.

James Krause (24-7, 5-3 UFC)

Krause made his UFC debut in 2013 and submitted Sam Stout in the third round. Krause struggled a bit after that win, as he lost three of his next four fights but Krause turned things around in July of 2015 with a first round submission of Daron Cruickshank. Krause won a unanimous decision against Shane Campbell in February of 2016 and then won a unanimous decision against Tom Gallicchio in July of last year.

Krause has been a pro fighter since 2007 and he owns his own gym in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. This fight will be held in St. Louis, so Krause should have some crowd support. Krause said to the St. Louis Post Dispatch that he expects this fight against White to be entertaining. “We’ve trained together quite a bit; he’s a tough, durable fighter,’’ Krause said. “He’ll bring a fight and that’s what intrigues me. At this point, I don’t just take fights to fight; I want to be in fights that will be entertaining and this is definitely a matchup I think the fans in St. Louis are going to enjoy.”

Alex White (12-3, 3-3 UFC)

White made his UFC debut early in 2014 and knocked out Estevan Payan. White lost his next two bouts, as he was beaten by Lucas Martins and Clay Collard in 2014. White didn’t fight again until February of 2016 when he won a unanimous decision against Artem Lobov. White couldn’t follow up that win, as he was beaten by Tony Martin in January of last year. White did rebound to knock out Mitch Clarke at UFC 215 last September.

White is from Farmington, Missouri, which is about an hour from St. Louis, so he is going to have some crowd support as well. White said to FanSided MMA that his win against Clarke gave him renewed confidence. “I think [that win] gave me the boost of confidence that I need. I know the fight before that [Tony Martin – UFC Fight Night 103] I didn’t do too well. The guy kind of controlled me the whole time. So that’s kind of what I was working on. I kind of just wanted to keep it standing up and just grind him out.”

White said that the weight cut by Krause will be the difference in this fight. “I think [him cutting to lightweight] will [be a factor]. February 2016 he hasn’t made 155-pounds since then, he got used to fighting at 170-pounds. I think him cutting those extra pounds its going suck at the end and take a toll on him.”

UFC Picks

This fight looks like a toss-up, as both fighters have similar resumes, so I will avoid a side. Since it is such an even matchup I think this fight will go the distance, so I will take the rounds to go over the total.
