Matt Frevola will look to stay unbeaten, as he takes on Marco Polo Reyes at UFC Fight Night 124 on Sunday in St. Louis on FS1. Frevola is 6-0 in his career and coming off a win over Luke Flores in the UFC Contender Series, while Reyes is 7-4 in his career and coming off a loss to James Vick. This fight is one of four on the FS1 portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a four-fight main card, also on FS1, featuring Jeremy Stephens vs. Doo Ho Choi. Let’s look at the bout between Frevola and Reyes and UFC picks.

Matt Frevola (6-0, UFC debut)
This is the first official fight for Frevola in the UFC, but he does have some experience, as he fought in the Contender Series where he beat Flores. Frevola said to Fightful.com that he was sure his win over Flores would get him a UFC contract. "I definitely knew I had it. I was the featured bout, taking out an undefeated guy like that. I was pretty confident I'd get the contract. Right after the fight they rushed me over to get the interview, after the interview rushed me to the back room where everyone was sitting and waiting," Frevola said.
Frevola has fought previously in Titan FC, WSOF and RFA. He will be making his UFC debut against Reyes. “I think it's a great matchup for me. I know he was on TUF Latin America. I know he has that tough, Mexican style. I know I'm going to hit him, I know I'm going to hurt him, and I know I'm going to finish him," said Frevola. "Round One."
Marco Polo Reyes (7-4, 3-1 UFC)
Reyes made his UFC debut just over two years ago and knocked out Cesar Arzamendia. Reyes followed up that win with a knockout of Dong Hyun Kim in June of 2016 and Reyes won a split decision against Jason Novelli in November of 2016. The last fight for Reyes was against Vick at UFC 211 in May of last year and it ended badly for Reyes, as he was knocked out in the first round.
Reyes said recently in the media that he is not worried about Frevola being unbeaten. "I'm preparing myself as best I can and I'm willing to leave every ounce of sweat in the octagon, and all I can say about my rival is that I do not belittle him, but his undefeated record does not intimidate me."
UFC Picks
I am a little bit surprised at the price for this fight, with Frevola listed as more than a 2-1 favorite. I do lean toward Frevola, but I am not thrilled about laying 2-1 in a fight that should be competitive. I think there is more value on the rounds, which should be listed at 1.5, as both Frevola and Vick have shown power and strong submission skills plus Frevola is predicting a first round knockout. I will take the rounds to go under the total.
