With UFC 192 behind us, it’s time to look ahead to the cards that don’t cost you $60 to watch. Next up for the promotion is UFC Fight NIght 76 in Ireland. Unfortunately, you’ve got to be a UFC Fight Pass subscriber for it, which sucks because it’s a pretty solid little card. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bet on it - we’ve already got a few odds up for you.
Let’s take a look at the card and the current odds. We’ll have more detailed breakdowns of the fights next week. Our online UFC odds have main card fight odds up right now, with the exception of Patrick Holohan vs. Louis Smolka. This should change very quickly. Expect to see odds for the entire card, including the prelims, posted about a week before fight night.
CURRENT AVAILABLE ODDS
DUSTIN POIRIER +175 vs. JOE DUFFY -225
BEN ROTHWELL +250 vs. STIPE MIOCIC - 300
NORMAN PARKE -270 vs. REZA MADADI +210
My first reaction here is that Poirier - 18-4, 9 KOs, 6 SUBs - is being undervalued. This is a 26-year old with 13 UFC fights already - a handful against contenders like Conor McGregor, Cub Swanson, Max Holloway and The Korean Zombie. Duffy - 14-1, 4 KOs, 9 SUBs - has beaten guys like McGregor and Parke, but his resume pales in comparison to Poirier’s.
The fact that Duffy has ended past three fights have ended in the first round might have something to do with this. But then again, Poirier has won two in a row by first-round knockout as well. You might want to check the total on rounds for this five-rounder, as these guys have the proven ability to finish fights on the mat and on the feet.
When it comes to the heavyweight tilt between Stipe Miocic - 13-2, 9 KOs, 1 SUB - and Ben Rothwell - 35-9, 20 KOs, 12 SUBs, I’d expect Miocic to slide further into chalk territory. Big Ben has won three in a row in an unexpected career resurgence, but I’m still not convinced he’s a title contender. The first win came against Brandon Vera, a blown up light heavyweight who’s no longer in the UFC. He was getting demolished by Overeem before landing a flash KO punch to the Dutchman’s glass jaw. Then Mitrione dove straight into a clean guillotine attempt in his next fight.
Miocic is every bit deserving of his top-4 ranking. He’s big, athletic, powerful and well-rounded. But his most effective tool might be his cage intelligence. If his opponent is vulnerable on the ground, Miocic will take him down. If the guy is slower than him, Miocic will stick and move. If a fighter has a powerful overhand right, he’ll tailor a gameplan to avoid it. Against Rothwell, there are a ton of weaknesses for Miocic to expose.
As for Norman Parke - 20-4-1, 4-2-1, UFC - vs. Reza Madadi - 13-3, 2-1 UFC, this is a tough fight to call. Northern Ireland’s Parke will be fighting at home and is a hefty favorite despite going into the bout on a two-fight losing streak. Madadi is best-known for being convicted of burglary in 2013. It’ll be his first fight out of prison.
