MAIN EVENT, Middleweights
Vitor Belfort -355
Dan Henderson +275
Over/under 1.5 rounds
Basically, Henderson is 44 years old and nowhere near the fighter he used to be. His chin is cracked, his strength is gone, and he’s slow as molasses. All he’s got left is his right hand, which still packs nuclear power. Belfort remains a phenomenal athlete at 38, with frightening hand speed and lightning quick combinations. This will not end nicely for Henderson.
The pick: Belfort to win by TKO in the second
CO-FEATURE, Light heavyweights
Glover Teixeira -350
Patrick Cummins +290
Over/under 1.5 rounds
Cummins is an excellent wrestler, but a decent striker at best. Teixeira is a powerful, technical puncher with a very good sprawl. It should be relatively easy for Glover to pick apart the shorter, stockier Cummins on the feet and fend off the inevitable takedown attempts. If Cummins can’t get this fight to the ground, he’ll be in big trouble.
The pick: Teixeira to win by TKO in the third
Bantamweights
Thomas Almeida -400
Anthony Birchak +300
Over/under 1.5 rounds
Almeida is an undefeated blue chip prospect on track to become a contender at 135. Birchak is a big, physical bantamweight whose ceiling is far lower than that of Almeida’s. This is going to be an entertaining bout between two aggressive fighters, but the talent gap is going to be obvious between the two. Birchak should be durable enough to last the whole fight, although Almeida is going to touch him up plenty.
The pick: Almeida to win by unanimous decison.
Lightweights
Alex Oliveira -210
Piotr Hallman +180
Over/under 2.5 rounds
Oliveira is a freak athlete who loves to bang - he’s notched 8 KOs in 12 overall wins. There’s absolutely no way Hallman can hang with him on the feet, and the Polish fighter isn’t a good enough wrestler to have much confidence in.
The pick: Oliveira by TKO in the second
Lightweights
Gilbert Burns +160
Rashid Magomedov -191
Over/under 2.5 rounds
In a closely matched fight between two good prospects, world champion jiu-jitsu player Gilbert Burns faces off against sprawl-and-brawler Rashid Magomedov. If Magomedov can fend off Burns’ takedowns, he should have an advantage in the standup.
The pick: Magomedov by split decision
Light heavyweights
Fabio Maldonado -550
Corey Anderson +430
Over/under 2.5 rounds
Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldonado meets TUF Season 19 winner Corey Anderson in the opening main card bout. While Maldonado is lauded for his granite chin and willingness to exchange, he’s 10 years younger than Corey Anderson, who’s an elite athlete with a quickly evolving game.
The pick: Anderson by unanimous decision
