The UFC’s first foray into South Korea is in the books, and for the most part, it was a successful night of solid action. From a betting perspective, most of the favorites came through, although they weren’t without challenges. Let’s make a few matchups based on the outcomes and project some odds.

Benson Henderson -110

Benson Henderson notched yet another split decision victory to close out his UFC contract. Should he resign with the promotion, it’d be interesting to see him tested against an established welterweight. Rick Story is the type of big, physical fighter that might give Henderson fits. If Smooth can beat Story, than it’d be impossible to deny him a run at top-10 opponents at 170.
Welterweights
Dong Hyun Kim -105
Matt Brown EVEN
DHK had little to prove as a top-10 welterweight fighting an unknown opponent with just a week’s notice. Matt Brown hasn’t fought since UFC 189 this past July, and is exactly the big-name opponent Kim needs to truly climb the ladder in a top-heavy welterweight division. Pairing Kim and Brown together would produce a viable candidate for a title eliminator.
Featherweights
Doo Ho Choi -150
Nik Lentz +175
At 24 years old and blessed with speed and power, Choi is by far Korea’s best prospect. He looked sensational against veteran Sam Sicilia, blasting him with power punches and stopping the American in the first round. It’s time to see how he’d do against a fringe top-10 featherweight. If Choi can replicate his dominance against a guy like Lentz, he could be a player to watch at 145.
Women’s strawweights
Seo Hee Ham +180
Felice Herrig -200
Ham’s grit and durability was admirable in her win against Cortney Casey, but her lack of size and power seems to cap her potential. Still, a powerful will and a granite chin can get you pretty far, especially in a thin strawweight decision. Felice Herrig is respectable veteran who would serve a great litmus test for Ham’s ceiling.
Welterweights
Alberto Mina +250
Lyman Good -195
Although Mina pulled off a minor upset over Akiyama, he showed some real flaws in the victory. Still, a 12-0 professional record is hard to ignore. Mina needs to face a fighter in his prime, and former Bellator champion Lyman Good makes sense. If Mina is serious about his UFC career, training for an experienced fighter like Good is the next step in his evolution.
