PREDICTION: Hendricks win by unanimous decision
“Wonderboy” Thompson is one of the division’s funnest fighters, a decorated kickboxer who fights like he’s in a kung fu movie. However, there’s little chance that former welterweight champion Hendricks obliges him in a standup affair.
For a while, “Bigg Rigg” fell too much in love with his sledgehammer left hand, but we saw the return of his elite wrestling against Matt Brown. I fully expect Hendricks stick to this gameplan and attempt to take the fight to the mat. Thompson might be able to fend off the takedowns for a round, but as the fight drags on it’s hard not to see him spending extended time on his back, with Hendricks in control.

Jared Rosholt +140
Roy Nelson -170
Over/under 1.5 rounds, over -140, under +120
PREDICTION: Rosholt wins by unanimous decision
Roy Nelson is 1-5 in his past five fights, and he wasn’t even competitive in any of those losses. At 39 years old, “Big Country” is looking more like “No Country for Old Man”. Rosholt, at 29, is quietly 6-1 in the UFC, albeit against lesser competition. Maybe it’s time to realize that Rosholt belongs in the upper echelon of heavyweights.
While Rosholt has major dad bod, he’s a former NCAA All-American wrestler. He’s strong, quick and agile - and smart enough to avoid Nelson’s lone weapon: the overhand right. This is going to be a grinding fight, with Rosholt pressing Big Country against the fence and dropping for takedowns through the majority of it.

Zach Makovsky -420
Joe Benavidez +340

PREDICTION: Benavidez wins by unanimous decison
In 19 UFC/WEC fights, Benavidez has only lost to Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson. That’s some serious cred. But because he’s already lost to flyweight champion Johnson twice, he’s a no man’s land until he racks up enough wins to justify a rare third title shot. This is basically a stay-busy fight for the No. 1 ranked Benavidez. While Makovsky is a good fighter, he’s not in that elite tier where Benavidez resides.
