UFC Fight Night 88 odds - The prelims preview, featuring former title challenger Sara McMann

UFC-FN-88-Prelims---Sara-McMann.ac

This Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 88 prelims is a good one, with a women’s bantamweight matchup between Sara McMann and Jessica Eye serving as the feature bout before the main card. The UFC is making sure that Fight Pass subscribers have a good reason to tune in as well, with a bout featuring undefeated bantamweight prospect Aljamain Sterling.

Women’s bantamweights

Sara McMann -161

Jessica Eye +136

Over/under 2.5 rounds, over -250, under +210

Prior to her title challenge against then-champion Ronda Rousey in February 2014, Sara McMann was 7-0 with a background as an Olympic silver medalist in freestyle wrestling. She got rocked by Rousey, then lost two of her nest three fights. Now, she’ll face off against Jessica Eye, who is also in the unenviable position of a 1-2 record going back to same Rousey-McMann card.

Bantamweights

Aljamain Sterling -415

Bryan Caraway +335

Over/under 2.5 rounds, over -195, under +165

Sucks that this fight is on UFC Fight Pass, because it could easily headline the FS1 prelims. Sterling, a 26-year old, 12-0 prospect was quickly resigned by the UFC as soon as he hit free agency, so it’s clear the promotion thinks highly of him. The Serra-Longo fight team product now faces his toughest test yet in Bryan Caraway, a submission specialist with 17 taps in 20 career wins.

Middleweights

Jake Collier +105

Alberto Pereira -125

Over/under 1.5 rounds, over -150, under +130

After piling up a 9-0 record on the Brazilian regional circuit, Alberto Pereira will test the UFC waters in his debut fight against former RFA middleweight champion Jake Collier. We have an idea of who Collier is -- a low-level stepping stone -- so how Pereira does against tell us a lot about his prospects in the octagon. For what it’s worth, Pereira has finished all of his fights but one, with an equal number of knockouts and submissions. That kind of well-rounded skillset always has a place inside the UFC.

Lightweights

Erik Koch +140

Shane Campbell -165

Over/under 1.5 rounds, over -200, under +170

Campbell replaces an injured Joe Proctor in a matchup against Roufusport’s Erik Koch. Both men should be fighting for job security, as Campbell is 1-2 inside the octagon and Koch has lost three of his past four. Koch is a former welterweight who recently moved down to lightweight in hopes of reviving his career. He’s 1-1 thus far in his return to 155. While this is little more than a filler fight, Koch does have a few memorable fights under his belt.

Heavyweights

Chris De La Rocha +205

Adam Milstead -245

Over/under 1.5 rounds, over +170, under -200

Two heavyweights with 100% stoppage ratios and one loss each kick off the Fight Pass festivities. The division is in serious need of good fighters, and Milstead could become one to watch in his debut fight. De La Rocha was knocked out in his only octagon appearance, by fellow unknown fighter Daniel Omielanczuk. A loss to a rookie like Milstead and it’ll be a while before we see him again.
