Gegard Mousasi is out for revenge. Last September, the middleweight contender was brutalized by a spinning jumpkick from Uriah Hall, resulting in one of the year’s best highlights and a humiliating loss. Since then, the Dutch-Armenian kickboxer has never looked better inside the octagon, riding three straight wins into the rematch.
Let’s take a look at your betting options and break down the fight.

Odds Analysis
Can you say “fluke”? Because that’s what oddsmakers seem to be saying about Hall’s win over Mousasi. More than a 5-1 favorite at -502, “The Dreamcatcher” is one of the biggest main event favorites in the past few months. It helps that Hall has lost two in a row since the win, showing the inconsistency that’s plagued him throughout his UFC career.
Fight Breakdown
Mousasi has 48 pro MMA fights, yet is just 31 years old. Few fighters have as much experience as Dutch native at such a young age. Even before making his UFC debut in 2013, Mousasi was considered a top international fighter, scoring wins over highly regarded opponents like Ovince St. Preux, Mark Hunt and Ronaldo Souza in promotions like Dream and Strikeforce.
While he’s found success inside the octagon to the tune of a 7-3 record, the loss to Hall sticks out like a sore thumb. Not only did it take him out of title contention, but Mousasi has had to climb back up the ladder since it came against a fringe top-10 guy. His last win over Vitor Belfort put him back in the mix, but the top of the division is ridiculously crowded right now.
Hall’s explosive athleticism is the only edge he holds over Mousasi, and he exploited this gap perfectly with his flash knockout. But make no mistake, it’s Mousasi who is the far more talented fighter.
In fact, it’s not even close - these guys could fight 100 times and Mousasi would probably win 99 times. Even in the standup phase, where Hall is strongest, Mousasi is much more technically refined, with the ability to pick apart counterstrikers like Hall. What tilts the odds most in his favor though is the grappling. Mousasi is an evolving wrestler with superb submission skills, while Hall has shown more than a few times that he has nothing to offer from his back.
Betting Analysis
This is Mousasi’s fight to lose, and the UFC odds at BookMaker reflect that. There is always the chance that Hall lands another electric strike that puts him away, but that’s not a proposition you want to bet any money on. Mousasi is far too intelligent and skilled to get caught again by the same fighter.
Because of the lopsided money lines, you’ll want to try your hand at the over/under. As usually is the case with Mousasi, take the over. He is an extremely patient fighter, and he even hit the over against a severely depleted Vitor Belfort. Mousasi will take his time exacting his revenge, making the over at -145 a better value.
UFC odds prediction: Mousasi SUB Hall, R3
