With a heavyweight title bout, middleweight GOAT Anderson Silva and the debut of Cris “Cyborg” among the highlights, you might have missed a possible No. 1 contender matchup between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Brazilian legend Vitor Belfort.
It’s a clash that pits one of the most decorated BJJ artists in the game today, Souza, against a man who has made a career out of rearranging the brains of opponents. But don’t think of it as just an intriguing style matchup: Belfort is a high level black belt as well, while Souza has knockout power of his own. These are two of the best 185ers in the world, and it’s a helluva a matchup.

I cannot stress how excited you should be about this pairing, particularly to witness Albert Tumenov’s potential rise to stardom. He struggled a bit in his last outing against Lorenz Larkin, notching a split decision win, but prior to that he notched three spectacular knockouts in four fights.
The Russian native has a rare combination of blinding hand and foot speed with bone-crunching power, and if given space it’s only a matter of time before he floors his opponent. Iceland’s Gunnar Nelson is a top prospect with elite submission skills, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get this fight to the ground.

Over/under rounds, over, under
Undefeated bantamweight Aljamain Sterling is projected to be a legitimate title contender in the near future, and Bryan Caraway is his his biggest UFC test to date. A win over the talented veteran would pretty much guarantee Sterling a top-5 opponent in his next bout. However, Sterling hasn’t been the most exciting fighter to watch, but maybe he could add some spice to his workmanlike game now that he’s got a fresh new contract.
