UFC 206, December 30
Women’s Bantamweight Championship
Amanda Nunes +140 vs. Ronda Rousey -165
Just over a year ago, Rousey was the most dominant champion the UFC had ever seen. Not only did she beat everyone that stepped into the cage with her, she completely annihilated them. So when Holm destroyed her within two rounds, it was arguably the greatest upset in UFC history.
It was so lopsided that in no way could the Holm loss be considered a fluke. In fact, it might be a sign that the elite bantamweights have caught up to Rousey. On the flip side, there’s also no way that Ronda tearing apart 12 straight opponents - 11 in the first round - was a fluke either. Maybe she recaptures the magic.
Early Betting Analysis
Getting underdog odds on Nunes is a steal. She’s a better striker than Holm and has the best knockout power in the division.
UFC odds pick: Nunes to win
Bantamweight Championship
Cody Garbrandt +165 vs. Dominick Cruz -210
This is the best grudge match in the UFC right now. Cruz’s beef with all of Team Alpha Male is well known at this point, and he has yet to lose to any fighter from the Sacramento gym. He hasn’t let us forget it either, openly flaunting his victories in the media and trashing the squad. Enter Garbrandt, a fiery young gun who has been afraid to mouth off in return.
The best part about this is that Garbrandt is the division’s hardest hitter, an undefeated prospect with sledgehammer fists. His past three fights have ended via first round knockout, giving Cruz zero margin for error with his elusive style.
Early Betting Analysis
Nobody has been able to solve Cruz yet. Garbrandt has got the flashy power, but he’s just not ready for this puzzle.
UFC odds pick: Cruz to win
