UFC Fight Night 109, May 28
Alexander Gustafsson -210 vs. Glover Teixeira +175
UFC Odds Analysis
Gustafsson is the more skilled fighter here, but Teixeira’s odds are tempting at +175. Both men are strikers, but it is Teixeira that has the killshot power that can come back and hand the Swede another loss in his hometown. In case you forgot, Anthony Johnson mauled “The Mauler” last time Gustafsson fought in Stockton.
Do I think that Teix wins? I don’t. But a bet on Glover is more than just a hail mary on a puncher’s chance.
UFC 212, June 3
Jose Aldo -135 vs. Max Holloway +115
Claudia Gadelha -300 vs. Karolina Kowalkiewicz +250
UFC Odds Analysis
Aldo vs. Holloway ain’t just a unification bout - we’re looking at a possible changing of the guard. McGregor might have starched Aldo, but nobody else was able to beat the Brazilian, and in some cases he was rematching dudes because he had pretty much cleaned out the division.
Holloway is a live, but slight ‘dog here. He’s got the length, speed and athleticism to keep up with the speedy Aldo and take two of three rounds. It’s doubtful the Hawaiian’s line gets any better from here on out, so move quick.
I don’t think any strawweight can beat Gadelha in a three-round fight. Kowalkiewicz can take a beating and keep coming, but she’d need every minute of a five-round fight to try and take advantage of the Brazilian’s cardio issues. Take Gadelha without a second thought.
UFC 213, July 8
Cody Garbrandt -145 vs. T.J. Dillashaw +125
Alistair Overeem -145 vs. Fabricio Werdum +125
UFC Odds Analysis
The action keeps coming in on Cody Garbrandt, who opened as a slight underdog and is now a clear favorite. That’s good for gamblers: if T.J. Dillashaw gets anywhere near +150, take that bet all day. Even now, T.J. is a great value at +125.
Garbrandt’s got all the physical tools to be a dominant champ, but Dillashaw is also a guy that’s been cruising through the bantamweight division. His one loss in the past few years, against Dominick Cruz, was a matchup that many thought that Dillashaw had won.
On the same card, Werdum at +125 is tempting too. Overeem is the bigger, flashier fighter, but he’s a guy that can’t take a punch and tires early. Werdum excels at making fights ugly and draining the gas tank of his opponents. Plus, Fabricio’s standup cannot be discounted any more.
