Welterweights
Mike Pyle vs. Alberto Mina
Alberto Mina is coming off an upset win over Japanese star Yoshihiro Akiyama. That victory, along with his flawless 12-0 record has forced the UFC to take notice and put him in another pivotal matchup -- this time against journeyman Mike Pyle. At 34 years old, it’s still difficult to consider Mina a bright prospect -- especially in a loaded welterweight division -- but beating Pyle would put him in line to face a top-15 opponent.
Lightweights
Gilbert Burns v.s Lukasz Sajewski
Burns earned two Performance of the Night bonuses while winning his first three UFC bouts, but suffered his first career loss against Rashid Magomedov in his most recent outing. The promising Brazilian now meets Poland’s Lukasz Sajewski, who opened his career 13-0 before losing to Nick Hein in his UFC debut. Burns is far more battle-tested against higher level competition, but Sajewski is young enough to make big leaps in his game.
Bantamweights
Anthony Birchak vs. Dileno Lopes
Though Birchak is 1-2 in the UFC, all of his fights have been entertaining -- and short. The American has yet to see a second round inside the octagon. Perhaps that will change against Dileno Lopes, who is coming off a loss in his UFC debut to Reginaldo Vieira. A submission specialist, Lopes has tapped 12 of his 20 opponents while notching four knockouts during that span.
Lightweights
John Makdessi vs. Mehdi Baghdad
Canada’s Makdessi has fallen on hard times after a 4-1 streak that included knockout wins over Shane Campbell and Renee Forte. He’s lost two in a row, one by TKO to Donald Cerrone and a tough split decision against Yancy Medeiros. A third straight loss could send him packing from the UFC. Makdessi will square off against France’s Mehdi Baghdad, a TUF 22 alum who was also a RFA champion prior to his time on the reality show.
Welterweights
Alvaro Herrera vs. Vicente Luque
The 25-year old Herrera is a native Mexico who appeared on TUF: Latin America 2. He made a splash in his UFC debut with a knockout of Vernon Ramos, giving him five wins in his past six fights. Herrera will meet 24-year old Vicente Luque, who was a fighter on TUF 21. Though Luque lost on the show’s finale to Michael Graves, he was able to bounce back with a submission victory over Hayder Hassan.
