Jon Jones isn’t just back, he’s in the superfight business. After concussing Daniel Cormier at UFC 214 to reclaim the light heavyweight title, “Bones” immediately went big game hunting, calling out heavyweight Brock Lesnar - one of the biggest draws in UFC history.
And why not? This is, after all, the superfight era in MMA. Jones knows that a fight with Lesnar would earn him far more money than one against anyone else in his division, and after years of wasting his fighting prime on the sidelines the GOAT is making up for lost time and income.
The biggest difference here is that Jones, unlike Conor McGregor or Michael Bisping, has already cleaned out his division. He’s got no business left unsettled at 205 pounds - so most fans would have no problem seeing him take challenges elsewhere.
I personally feel there’s a great chance that Jones vs. Lesnar happens. And when it does, you’ll be able to bet on it with the UFC odds at BookMaker.eu. Let’s take a look at the opening odds.

Matchup Breakdown
There is no shortage of reasons why this fight is so compelling. The first one that comes to mind is the size difference: Jones’ walkaround weight is around 220 pounds - Lesnar cuts weight to make the 265-pound limit. The WWE superstar has always had a frame that seemed unreal for a fighter, appealing to both MMA and wrestling fans alike.
When you’re as big, strong and athletic as Lesnar, you’ll always have a shot and simply trucking somebody over. He’s bulldozed guys who weigh 250 pounds - legitimate heavyweights like Frank Mir and Heath Herring. He’s immovable when on top, and his fists are the size of lunchpails. The man can do an extraordinary amount of damage in just a short amount of time.
But don’t expect Jones to be anything less than a 2-1 favorite. Lesnar hasn’t fought since beating Mark Hunt in July 2016 then getting the decision overturned for popping hot. At 40 years old, without the benefits of PEDs, his competitive prime is far behind him. Jones is still just 30 years old.
When Lesnar couldn’t take down Cain Velasquez or Alistair Overeem, he was lit up by two much more polished strikers. Jones isn’t as big as either of those two, but he’s long, agile and athletic. Plus, he’s a much more dynamic offensive fighter - Lesnar would likely be a walking target on the feet.
But if Jones is looking for a way to break into the heavyweight division, there’s no better way to do it than by challenging the biggest star in the division’s history. After likely beating Lesnar, a champion vs. champion fight with Jones and Miocic would be a fitting followup for Jones - and he’d probably be the favorite then too.
