UFC Odds Online: Erick Silva and Rick Story to face off in UFC Fight Night 70 welterweight clash

UFC betting online: Two solid welterweights will look to move up the divisional ladder when Brazil’s Erick Silva (18-5, 4 KOs, 11 SUBs) meets American Rick Story (18-8, 4 KOs, 4 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 70. Once considered bright UFC prospects, neither man has been able to breach the elite tier, instead settling in as fringe top-15 guys.

That could change here, as both men come into the bout on promising two-fight winning streaks.

Check Bookmaker’s UFC odds for the latest money lines on each fighter. The over/under on this three-round bout will likely be set at 2.5 rounds. Full fight odds are typically posted at the beginning of fight week, depending on the magnitude of the event. I’d expect Silva to be the favorite going into the bout.

Story’s last loss came against rising contender Kelvin Gastelum in March 2014, and he has since bounced back with wins over Leonardo Mafra Teixeira and Gunnar Nelson. The fight against Nelson was extremely close, with Story walking away with a narrow split decision win. Story owns notable wins over Thiago Alves and former 170-pound kingpin Johny Hendricks, which is surprising considering his losses to Martin Kampmann, Demian Maia and Mike Pyle.

Silva is an athletic marvel whose only UFC losses have come against Carlo Prater, Jon Fitch, Dong Hyun Kim and Matt Brown. With the exception of Prater, those were all top-10 fighters at the time Silva fought them. In his most recent outing, he easily submitted Josh Koscheck with a first-round guillotine choke, bringing his streak of finishes to six straight.

If you bet on Story vs. Silva with our online UFC odds, I’d stick with Silva. While Story is a good all-around fighter, he doesn’t show the flashes of elite potential that Silva does. The Brazilian’s standup appears to have turned a corner, catching up to his formidable submission game. He’s got the hand speed and power to bang, but the athleticism and savvy to submit. This is Silva’s fight to lose, as his toolbox is easily more robust than that of Story’s.
