UFC betting online: Rafael Cavalcante - 12-5, 11 KOs, 1 SUB- is hoping to add his name to a long list of Strikeforce transplants currently enjoying great success in the UFC. That can start with a win over Patrick Cummins - 7-2, 3 KOs, 2 SUBs - in their UFC 190 matchup in Brazil.
As the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, Cavalcante has compiled a disappointing 1-2 record in the UFC, and now “Feijao” finds himself in a must-win matchup on home soil.

The over/under in this matchup will likely be set at 2.5 rounds, with the over being the betting favorite. WIN OR GO PRELIMS
While this fight has zero implications on the overall title picture at 205, there’s plenty at stake here for both fighters. Cavalcante came into the UFC as a Strikeforce champion, but was knocked out by Thiago Silva in his UFC debut. While he bounced back with a TKO over Igor Pokrajac, he was thoroughly beaten by title contender Ryan Bader in his most recent outing. A win over a mid-card fighter like Cummins would be devastating to his standing within the division.
Since losing to Daniel Cormier as a short-notice replacement in his UFC debut, Cummins has gone 3-1, proving that the former barista has a place in the octagon. However, taking a step up in competition proved disastrous for the Reign MMA fighter, as he was knocked out in the first round by top-10 light heavyweight Ovince St. Preux. If Cummins wants to reach the upper levels at 205, a win over Cavalcante would go a long way.
One could view this as an opportunity for either man to earn a spot on future main cards, as both Cummins and Cavalcante have the potential to become top-15 fighters.
FIGHT ANALYSIS + PREDICTION
Cummins is a former collegiate wrestler, and Cavalcante is a noted knockout artist. Usually I go with wrestlers, because they are generally more successful in imposing their will, but Feijao has beaten guys like King Mo and Yoel Romero – better wrestlers than Cummins. The former Strikeforce champ is far more experienced against better competition, and completely outclasses Cummins on the feet.
For Cummins to get this fight on the ground, he must first venture into Cavalcante’s range, and that is a dangerous proposition for the American. I see Feijao playing this fight safe to secure a win and scoring points from the periphery en route to a unanimous decision.
