UFC betting online: After starting out her career a perfect 7-0, former Olympic wrestling silver medalist Sara McMann – 8-2, 1 KO, 3 SUBs – is just 1-2 in her past three fights. That doesn’t mean she’s getting off easy, as McMann is slated to face the tough Amanda Nunes – 10-4, 9 KOs, 1 SUB – at UFC Fight Night 73 in Nashville. The two will meet on the FOX Sports 2 prelim portion of a card headlined by light heavyweight contenders Ovince St. Preux and Glover Teixeira.

IT’S TIME TO MCMANN UP
One can easily forgive McMann’s only losses – a majority decision defeat to No. 1 contender Miesha Tate and quick TKO at the hands of superstar Ronda Rousey. With wins over girls like Shayne Baszler, Sheila Gaff and Lauren Murphy, McMann undeniably belongs in the top-10 of the UFC’s deepest women’s division. The question is whether she can get better and evolve the rest of her skills up to the level of her elite wrestling.
Nunes is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt, but nine of her 10 wins have come by way of KO/TKO. She’s 3-1 in the UFC, with notable wins over Shayna Bazsler and Sheila Gaff. Her lone loss came at the hands of Cat Zingano, who was considered the No. 1 contender at the time. While there are no real holes in her game, Nunes has failed to show dominance in any one skill.
This is an important fight between two top-10 girls at 135. McMann is by no means out of the title picture, and Nunes has the distinction of not having faced Rousey yet. It’s entirely possible that the winner could find herself in a title eliminator in the very near future.
FIGHT ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION
McMann is the rightful favorite – her Olympic credentials and physicality are absolutely legit. Nunes is unquestionably the better striker, but she doesn’t have the one-punch power to stop a powerful wrestler like McMann. There’s no question that this fight will go to the mat, where McMann’s ground-and-pound will be tested by Nunes’ BJJ black belt credentials.
McMann’s takedowns and work inside the guard will be the difference, as it gives her more opportunities to score points. The pick is McMann to win a tough split decision.
