UFC odds online: It just keeps getting worse for Jon Jones, but he’ll be back

UFC betting online: First, Jon Jones (21-1, 9 KOs, 6 SUBs) hit a pregnant woman at a stoplight and took off. Then, he was stripped of his title by the UFC so he could sort out his “issues.” Next, his archrival Daniel Cormier (16-1, 6 KOs, 5 SUBs) claimed that title after a win over Anthony Johnson at UFC 187 (19-5, 13 KOs).

And now, we have footage of the aftermath of Jones’ hit-and-run incident that kicked everything off. It doesn’t look pretty.

Just a few days ago, camera footage was made public showing officers searching inside the Buick SUV that Jones was driving, finding rental paperwork with his name on it along with Nevada State Athletic Commission paperwork in his name. Even worse, they found a weed pipe, additional cash, “a sh-tload of condoms,” fight shorts and a bag of Funyons.

We can forgive him for the Funyons because those crispy little onion rings are undeniably delicious. The condoms, the cash, even the weed – all things that everyone assumes comes with the superstar athlete lifestyle. But what hurts the most is that fans are being robbed of the chance of witnessing the greatness of a fighter who could easily go down as the best in history.

Bookmaker’s UFC odds commonly had Jones as ridiculous money line favorites, routinely starting at minus-500. In a stacked division like light heavyweight, that’s a big freaking deal. And it was completely justified. This isn’t boxing, where champions can choose favorable matchups. No, the UFC was putting the division’s best in front of him, and Jones was just mowing through them. No matter how much disdain he provoked from fans, he was good for the sport. Much like Floyd Mayweather, people tuned in en masse in hopes of watching him lose – something that seemed less and less likely with each fight.

There’s no telling when he’ll be back, but if Bookmaker’s UFC odds had a prop bet whether he’d return within a year, I’m sure it’d be like minus-2000 on the bet that he does. He reportedly helped Andrei Arlovski train for his fight with Travis Browne at UFC 187, which means that he’s still in the gym doing his thing. My bet is as soon as he’s clear of his legal problems, he’ll jump right back into the mix. Dana White has already gone on record saying that he’ll fight for the title as soon as he’s ready.

Jones is a great fighter, and he knows it. At 27 years old, he’s still got a few years left of his prime, and it’s doubtful that his crime will be considered serious enough to put him away in a cell for a couple years a la Mike Tyson. It’s much more likely that he’ll pick up right where he left off, destroying the competition. There’s almost no safer bet than Jones when it comes to our UFC odds.
