Boxing betting online: After a devastating loss to now-title contender Luke Rockhold at UFC on Fox 15, former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (22-6, 9 KOs, 2 SUBs) is in desperate need of a win to stay relevant in the middleweight title picture.
He’ll get a solid opportunity to do so against Yoel Romero (9-1, 8 KOs), a hulking Cuban defector who has yet to lose inside the octagon. Their matchup will headline UFC Fight Night 70, which will also feature the TUF: Brazil 4 lightweight and bantamweight tournament championships.

Full fight odds are typically posted at the beginning of fight week, depending on the magnitude of the event. Given how both men have fared recently, I’d expect Romero to be a slight favorite going into the bout.
Since winning his UFC debut against Clifford Starks on April 2013, Romero has stepped up against increasingly good competition. Most recently, he beat Tim Kennedy via TKO at UFC 178 to cement his place in the top-10 at 185. His experience as a pro boxer, awesome power and fearsome physique have led to five wins in the octagon, with KO/TKOs in four of those victories. His lone loss came at the hands the hands of former Strikeforce champion Rafael Cavalcante in 2011.
Machida is just 1-2 in his past three fights, with losses to champion Chris Weidman and No. 1 contender Luke Rockhold sandwiched around an easy win over C.B. Dolloway. While those losses have come against the two best guys in the division, they also that Machida might not have what it takes to be a title contender anymore. However, he could force the issue by continually beating very good fighters like Romero.
If you bet on Machida vs. Romero with our online UFC odds, I’d probably lean towards Machida. The Brazilian consistently beats elite fighters, and is by far the best opponent that Romero has faced to date. I don’t know if Romero is physical enough to punish Machida in the same manner that Weidman and Rockhold did, and he’s definitely the slower, less-conditioned fighter. Machida should be able to stick-and-move his way to a decision victory.
