UFC Odds Online: Meisha Tate and Jessica Eye square off in a title eliminator to face Ronda Rousey

UFC betting online: Longtime women’s bantamweight contender Miesha Tate (16-5, 3 KOs, 6 SUBs) has the opportunity to secure a trilogy bout with rival Ronda Rousey should she get through Jessica Eye (11-2, 3 KOs, 1 SUB) at UFC on FOX 16.

While Rousey tore through Tate in both title bouts, the division is so thin that the champion has lapped the field. It’s possible that Eye can offer up a new challenge should she get through Tate.

CURRENT ODDS

Our UFC on FOX 13 odds will likely peg Tate as the favorite, as she’s long been the division’s second best fighter for a while. Look for her money line to start at around minus-150. The over/under is typically listed a few days before fight night, so keep checking back in for daily updates. I’d expect it to be set at 2.5 rounds, because neither women is a particularly dominant finisher.

ALL EYES ON ROUSEY

Since suffering back-to-back losses to Cat Zingano and Ronda Rousey in 2013, Tate has won three in a row, beating Liz Carmouche, Rin Nikai and Sara McMann. Based on her total body of work, she can easily be argued as the best fighter in the division not named Ronda Rousey. The problem is that the gap between her and Rousey is so big that nobody believes a third fight between the two would be competitive.

Eye only has two fights in the UFC, losing her debut to former title challenger Alexis Davis but rebounding with a win over Leslie Smith at UFC 180. However, she’s a familiar face in the WMMA scene, with wins over respected opponents in Carina Damm, Zoila Frausto and Angela Magana in Bellator and NAAFS.

Because Tate is one of the better wrestlers in the division, Eye will want to keep this fight on the feet where she’s more comfortable. Both have proven to be extremely durable and feisty to boot, but let’s be real here: neither would give Rousey much of a challenge. Though this fight is a title eliminator, the champion’s dominance takes a little luster off of this fight.

FIGHT PICKER

The only women to beat Tate in the UFC are Rousey and Cat Zingano, because they were able to outmuscle her. Eye doesn’t have the physicality to do the same, so she’ll have to test her standup against Tate’s good all-around game. Tate isn’t a bad striker, but she’ll have the option to take this fight to the ground against a girl who hasn’t shown elite takedown defense. With more options to choose from, I see Tate utilizing takedowns and ground-and-pound en route to a decision.
