At just 21 years old, Borg looks primed to make waves at 125 for the next few years. Though the Fit NHB fighter lost his UFC debut to Dustin Ortiz at UFC on Fox 11, he’s bounced back nicely with two straight wins over Shane Howell and Chris Kelades. “The Tazmexican Devil” is a dangerous grappler in his own right, with six submissions in his eight wins.
In a paper-thin division like flyweight, a big win can instantly land a fighter just a few fights away from a title shot. Of course, when your division is ruled by somebody as dominant as Demetrious Johnson, you might want to take your time. A prospect bout is invaluable experience for fighters as young as Borg and Herrera.
FIGHT ANALYSIS AND PICK
This is a tough fight to call, simply because there really isn’t that much background to go on. Both men have proven they can consistently beat lower-rung fighters, but neither has faced a true top-10 guy. It’s entirely plausible that these two BJJ specialists will want to test out their chances on the feet, making this fight completely unpredictable. If I were forced to pick, I’d choose Borg because of his prior UFC experience, but it’s definitely a shaky choice.
