UFC Odds Online: What’s next for Jose Aldo after UFC 189 withdrawal

Aldo-McGregor-Recap-Look-Ahead.ac

UFC betting online: With Jose Aldo’s (25-1, 14 KOs, 2 SUBs) withdrawal from his much-hyped championship bout against Conor McGregor (17-2, 15 KOs, 1 SUBs), there’s a lot of questions surrounding his immediate future.

Let’s break down a few scenarios that could play out in light of the new interim title bout between McGregor and Mendes.

Scenario 1: McGregor beats Mendes

After Aldo’s injury was announced, Bookmaker's UFC 189 odds tabbed McGregor at plus+106, with Aldo at +120. But prior to the announcement, Aldo was the slight favorite going into the bout. That would likely be the case again if and when Aldo comes back fully healthy.

Aldo is one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, period. He belongs right up there with Anderson Silva, Georges St. Pierre, Fedor Emelianenko and Jon Jones. But for a variety of reasons, he just doesn’t have the same star power. That doesn’t matter to oddsmakers though, as Aldo’s elite skills are undeniable.

Scenario 2: Mendes beats McGregor

Currently, Bookmaker’s UFC 189 odds have McGregor as a minus-138 favorite over Mendes, whose money line is plus+118. However, the only fighter that Mendes has ever lost to is Jose Aldo. And he’s faced some of the best guys that the division has to offer.

But the fact remains that Aldo has already beaten Mendes twice, and there’s no reason to believe that a third match would be any different. While the second go-round between the two was competitive, Aldo was clearly the better fighter even though Mendes is fighting in peak form.

While we’re not getting the Aldo vs. McGregor matchup that was heavily hyped, it seems inevitable that these two will meet at some point. For now, we can enjoy a fantastic matchup for the interim belt, with a surefire hall-of-famer waiting in the wings.
