UFC odds - Projecting the odds for Conor McGregor’s possible fights

Conor-McGregor-Possible-Fights.ac

The UFC is at the mercy of Conor McGregor's whims. Unlike any other fighter before him, the new featherweight champ is free to dictate his plans with an organization that historically and authoritatively controlled the careers of its fighters. So while we wait for McGregor to decide who he'll face next, let's project some odds for his most likely possible opponents.

THE REMATCH

Conor McGregor -160

Jose Aldo +130

These odds are already available in the sportsbook, but I highly doubt we'll see an immediate rematch. Nothing about the first outcome was controversial, and you don't get a more dominant result than a 13-second KO with the first punch. The only thing Aldo has going for him is that we didn't see much of a fight, and a second encounter between the two rivals would almost certainly be more competitive.

If this were any other fighter besides McGregor, the UFC would have granted Aldo an immediate rematch. His resume and longtime reign as the featherweight king would justify it. But McGregor is a different breed of hype, and after a year of waiting for Aldo, it seems unlikely that he'd want to do it all over again right away.

THE LAST FEATHERWEIGHT STANDING

Projected Odds

Conor McGregor -175

Frankie Edgar +145

There is just one top contender at 145 that Conor McGregor has yet to beat: former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Nobody is more deserving of a title challenge than 'The Answer', who shockingly knocked out Chad Mendes at the TUF 22 Finale to bring his divisional winning streak to five.

Furthermore, Edgar's mix of superb footwork and MMA wrestling make him arguably the most difficult matchup stylistically for the Irish champion. Interestingly enough, McGregor has been somewhat respectful of Edgar in the media - although he did say he was past his prime. Dana White did say that Edgar was next in line for a title challenge, but if McGregor opts to move up in weight for his next fight, that shot might not come for a while.

THE LIGHTWEIGHT TITLE UNIFICATION

Projected Odds

Conor McGregor +110

Rafael dos Anjos +110

If McGregor wants to chase history, this is the fight to take. Never before has the promotion seen an active two-division champion. Jumping straight to the top of the UFC's most loaded weight class is a Herculean task that would draw casual interest in droves.
