UFC 215, September 9

Women’s Bantamweight Championship

Amanda Nunes -115 vs. Valentina Shevchenko -115

Heavyweight

Francis Ngannou -325 vs. Junior dos Santos +250

What to Watch For

The funny thing is that neither of these fights are the main event, but they’re the ones that most fight fans are looking forward too. We got robbed of Nunes-Shevchenko 2 at UFC 213, but that’s just raised the anticipation a bit. Nunes is the division’s heaviest hitter, while Shevchenko is it’s scrappiest. It’s pretty much a coin flip how this fight ends up.

Francis Ngannou is the most exciting heavyweight in the division right now - his combination of size, speed and explosive power is downright scary. His hype is justified, and if he can take down a former champ in Junior dos Santos we could be seeing him in a title shot next.

UFC Fight Night 116, September 16

Middleweight

Luke Rockhold -365 vs. David Branch +275

Welterweight

Thiago Alves vs. Mike Perry

What to Watch For

Let’s just be happy the Luke Rockhold is back inside the octagon. The former champ has been sitting out for a year now due to general beef with the UFC. But he’s one of the best middleweights in the world, with an entertaining blend of kickboxing and jiu-jitsu, and currently just a win or two from a title shot. David Branch is a former WSOF champ who’d love to make his name in the UFC off of Rockhold.

Mike Perry might not be a household name, but there’s something about a fighter that looks and acts like fighter. “Platinum” has got a filthy mean mug, fights with a chip on his shoulder and has the power to lay dudes out. Pairing him against another striker like Thiago Alves should produce plenty of fireworks.

UFC Fight Night 117, September 23

Women’s Strawweight

Claudia Gadelha vs. Jessica Andrade

What to Watch For

This was an announcement that had a lot of fans buzzing. Gadelha and Andrade are both top-4 fighters, but that’s not what makes this matchup so awesome. These girls are physical savages. Gadelha is arguably the most athletic strawweight in the world, and she can tear girls apart with her BJJ.

Andrade is a mini-tank with piledriver takedowns and explosive punching power. She might have gotten tuned up by Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but she was bombing on strawweight contenders before that. In terms of natural strength, Gadelha might be her only equal at 115 pounds.
