UFC odds - The Championship Power Rankings

UFC---Champions-Rankings---Demetrious-Johnson.ac

With so many UFC belts changing hands in the past few months, it's time we updated our Championship Power Rankings. This list measures how far ahead a champion is ahead of the pack in their respective division. You could also see it as who has the best chance of keeping their belt in the foreseeable future. As always, odds for any upcoming fights are listed.

No. 1: Demetrious Johnson

Men's flyweight champion

Next fight: TBA

With Ronda Rousey out of the championship realm, there's no question as to who the most dominant titleholder in the UFC is. We can speculate that Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo is the next man up, as there is literally nobody left for Mighty Mouse to beat. No official fight date has been set for the flyweight kingpin.

No. 2: T.J. Dillashaw

Men's bantamweight champion

Next fight: UFC Fight Night 81, Dillashaw -160 vs. Dominick Cruz +130

Although Dillashaw faces a huge test in Dominick Cruz on January 17, it's hard to see anyone else really posing a challenge to the Team Elevation champion. Thomas Almeida and Aljamain Sterling are the young guns in the wings, but they need a bit more seasoning to truly be considered threats.

No. 3: Luke Rockhold

Men's middleweight champion

Next Fight: TBA

The two best middleweights in the world faced off at UFC 194, and Rockhold posted a dominant victory to come away with the belt. If he can do that to Chris Weidman, it's easy to see him holding the belt for a while. With all due respect to Yoel Romero, I just don't see the Cuban on the same playing field as the new champ.

No. 4: Joanna Jedrzejczyk

Women's strawweight champion

Next fight: Jedrzejczyk -190 vs. Claudia Gadelha +150

Although the rematch between Joanna Champion and Brazilian Claudia Gadelha doesn't have a time or date, BookMaker has money lines available in the future events section. J-Check appears miles ahead of everyone else in the division, with the exception of Gadelha. If the Polish powerhouse can get past her, it'll take a while for everyone else to catch up.

No. 5: Rafael dos Anjos

Men's lightweight champion

Next Fight: TBA

Although RDA reigns over the toughest division in the UFC, it's time to give the man some respect after he thrashed Donald Cerrone in 66 seconds at UFC on FOX 17. He's quietly become a murderer in all phases of the game. I only see two real threats on the horizon: Khabib Nurmagomedov, who can't get healthy, and Tony Ferguson, who is as unpredictable as the come.

No. 6: Conor McGregor

Men's featherweight champion

Next fight: TBA

Newly minted champion Conor McGregor has got some work to do before earning a higher rank. The biggest task ahead of him is Frankie Edgar, who is the only top featherweight left for the Irishman to beat. There's also a rematch with Jose Aldo that could be a perilous obstacle for McGregor.

No. 7: Holly Holm

Women's bantamweight champion

Next fight: Ronda Rousey -120 vs. Holly Holm +100

Ronda Rousey dominated the bantamweight division. Then Holly Holm dominated Ronda Rousey. While Holm is not going to put away challengers in less than a minute like Ronda did, she's got the skills and physical tools to beat anyone in the division. I'm appalled that Holm is the underdog right now.

No. 8: Fabricio Werdum

Men's heavyweight champion

Next fight: Werdum +135 vs. Cain Velasquez -160

Werdum is an early underdog in his rematch with Velasquez. If he can get past Cain at sea level, he could easily move a few spots up this list. A rejuvenated Alistair Overeem and a hungry Stipe Miocic are also real threats to dethrone Werdum.

No. 9: Robbie Lawler

Men's welterweight champion

Next fight: TBA

I've been saying for a while that the top five welterweights could all beat each other on any given night. And Robbie Lawler eking out a split decision win over Carlos Condit only seems to validate that point further. The Ruthless one is awesome, but far from dominant.

No. 10: Daniel Cormier

Men's light heavyweight champion

Next fight: Daniel Cormier +235 vs. Jon Jones -305

When the former No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter returns to your division, your days as numero uno are numbered. DC can beat everyone else at 205, but Jon Jones is an entirely different animal. It'd be hard to find anyone who feels Cormier will emerge as the victor of their upcoming matchup.
