What makes a fighter “hot”? Sometimes it takes a long winning streak, other times it’s a single victory. The one thing they have in common is that everyone is wants more of them, and we want it NOW. Let’s check out who’s currently riding sweet waves of momentum right now, along with any available odds.

NATE DIAZ

Why he’s hot: Coming off the couch to open up a can of you-know-what on motor-mouthed Conor McGregor.

Next Fight: Nate Diaz +100 vs. Conor McGregor -130

Cult anti-hero Nate Diaz has always been a crowd favorite, but the beatdown he laid on superstar Conor McGregor has propelled his popularity into the stratosphere. The mercurial Stockton native has never had this kind of spotlight before, so it’ll be interesting to see how he responds. He’s definitely the more grounded than older brother Nick, which is like saying that Bam Margera is more sensible than Steve-O.

Right now, Diaz is gunning for big money fights, and none is bigger than a rematch with McGregor. The fight is rumored to be announced in the next few days.

STEPHEN THOMPSON

Why he’s hot: Tearing Johny Hendricks apart in one round while looking like the second coming of Bruce Lee.

Next Fight: UFC Fight Night 89, June 12

Stephen Thompson -120 vs. Rory MacDonald +100

Damn, Stephen...back at it again with that kung fu sh*t. This guy is a black belt in Kempo Karate and American Kickboxing, and fights like he’s on a movie set. He lit up Johny Hendricks with brutal kicks and basically made the former champion look like a chump inside the cage. It was such a sick performance that Michael Bisping immediately stated that “Wonderboy” would be a champ by the year’s end. Yeah, we’re intrigued.

BEN ROTHWELL

Why he’s hot: Keeps beating guys that he should be losing to -- at their own game.

Next Fight: UFC Fight Night 86, April 10

Ben Rothwell -118 vs. Junior dos Santos -102

Rothwell has won four in a row, with two TKOs and two finishes. But take a look at how he’s winning. He knocked out two strikers -- a very good one in Brandon Vera and an elite kickboxer in Alistair Overeem. Then he goes out and becomes the first fighter to ever truly submit submission specialist Josh Barnett. Think he can outbox Junior dos Santos in his upcoming fight?

DOMINICK CRUZ

Why he’s hot: His comeback from major injuries to recapture the belt is basically a made-for-Hollywood story

Next fight: UFC 199, June 25

Urijah Faber +425 vs. Dominick Cruz -550

Before Dominick Cruz fought T.J. Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night 81 this past January, he had only fought once in the past four years. The rest of the time he was either getting surgery, rehabbing, or both at the same time. Crazy, huh? Then he comes back and takes out then-champion T.J. Dillashaw and it looks like he hasn’t lost a step. We wanna see more of this feel-good story. Next up for “The Dominator” is a trilogy bout with Urijah Faber, and the trash talk between the two rivals is already well under way.
