Sara McMann is more than a 2-1 favorite to defeat Marion Reneau at UFC on FOX 28 on Saturday. McMann is 11-4, including 5-4 in the UFC, while Reneau is 8-3-1, including 4-2-1 in the UFC. This bout is one of four on the FOX portion of the preliminary card, leading up to a four-fight main card, also on FOX, featuring Jeremy Stephens vs. Josh Emmett. Let’s look at McMann vs. Reneau and UFC picks.

Sara McMann (11-4, 5-4 UFC)
McMann had her three-fight winning streak snapped last September, as she was submitted by Ketlen Vieira in the second round. McMann had previously beaten Jessica Eye, Alexis Davis and Gina Mazany. McMann has been a pro since 2011 and she has four wins by submission and two by knockout. She has four first round finishes.
It was thought that McMann was going to face Invicta FC Bantamweight Champion, Yana Kunitskaya, but Reneau’s original opponent for this event, Tonya Evinger got hurt and McMann took the spot. Kunitskaya ended up in a much better situation, as she gets the headliner against Cyborg at UFC 222 next month.
Marion Reneau (8-3-1, 4-2-1 UFC)
Reneau made her UFC debut in 2015 and defeated Alexis Dufresne. She followed up that win with a submission of Jessica Andrade in February of 2015. Her two UFC losses came next, as she lost a unanimous decision to Holly Holm in July of 2015 and a split decision to Ashlee Evans-Smith in February of 2016. Reneau bounced back to knock out Milana Dudieva in November of 2016. She fought to a majority draw against Bethe Correia in March of last year and she knocked out Talita Bernardo in September of last year.
Reneau has been a pro since 2010 and she has five knockout wins and three submission wins. She has four first round finishes.
Reneau said to Fightful that she expects a very tough fight against McMann. "I see it being a grueling fight. We're going to test each other the first round to see where we're at, and come the second and third round I think we're going to have a good show for everybody. I keep asking for a top ten opponent. I'm trying to propel myself forward. My ultimate goal is to fight for the title. I'm not overlooking Sara," said Reneau
UFC Picks
Both of these two fighters are veterans in the division who are good, but not great. McMann usually beats fighters she should, but loses against the best. The question is how good is Reneau? This has all the looks of a grab fest that is decided on the mat. McMann should have the edge on the mat and she will probably get the win, but I am not thrilled about laying more than 2-1 in UFC odds. I think there will probably be more value in taking the rounds total to go over, as this fight should be one that goes to a decision.
