Chad “The Disciple” Laprise has yet to lose inside the octagon, with wins over Olivier Aubin-Mercier, Yosdenis Cedeno and Bryan Barberena. Prior to the UFC, Laprise racked up a 7-0 record, including two wins in Bellator. It’s obvious that the Ontario native is ready to take a step up in competition.
Trinaldo is that level up – to some degree. A veteran with 10 UFC fights, the 36-year old Brazilian has compiled a solid 7-3 octagon record against midlevel completion. He comes into the matchup on the strength of a three-fight win streak, most recently besting Norman Parke in a split decision this past May.
At 29 years old, the time for Laprise to make his move is now. Should he get past Trinaldo in decisive fashion, it would signal the need for a significant fight against a top-15 opponent. Similarly, a victory by Trinaldo would put the Brazilian on a four-fight winning streak, something not to be taken lightly even in a stacked lightweight class.

Laprise is a smooth, technical kickboxer with solid athleticism and an excellent gas tank. He sets a high work rate, dishing out a constant flow of striking combinations mixed with low kicks.
