Who do bettors like at UFC Fight Night 102 on Friday night? The main event on Friday has Derrick Lewis taking on Shamil Abdurakhimov with Lewis a 2-1 favorite. There are three other fights on the main card with Francis Ngannou heavily favored against Anthony Hamilton, Corey Anderson a big favorite vs. Sean O’Connell and Gian Villante almost a 2-1 favorite against Saparbek Sarafov. Are bettors taking a chance with any of the underdogs on the main card?

Derrick Lewis -200 vs. Shamil Abdurakhimov

Bettors have been backing the favorite in this bout as Lewis opened up at -180 and he is now -200. This line may go higher as Lewis has won his last four fights and could be in line for a future title shot. He is 7-2 in the UFC including a win over Roy Nelson last time out.

Abdurakhimov has won his last two fights after losing his debut to Timothy Johnson in 2015. There is no doubting the power of Abdurakhimov as he has 11 of his 17 wins by KO, TKO or submission. This fight may not last long as Abdurakhimov has finished nine of his opponents in the first round.

This will be the 10th appearance for Lewis since 2014 which is the most in the heavyweight division. Lewis has 14 of his 16 wins by knockout including six of seven in the UFC.

Francis Ngannou -500 vs. Anthony Hamilton

The price on Ngannou is really high and bettors have shied away so far. Ngannou looks to be the far superior fighter but laying 5-1 is never easy to do. This is another fight that might not last long as Ngannou has won his last seven bouts in an average time of just over five minutes. All eight wins for Ngannou in his career have been by stoppage.

Hamilton is 3-3 in the UFC and at 36 years old he will be the oldest fighter competing at UFC Fight Night 102. Two of his three wins in the UFC were by stoppage.

Corey Anderson -400 vs. Sean O’Connell

Bettors are all over the favorite in this fight as Anderson opened up at -325 and is now -400. Anderson was “The Ultimate Fighter 19” winner and he has looked really good with 24 takedowns in his seven UFC fights while only being taken down twice. Anderson is coming off a loss to Mauricio Rua at UFC 198 but that was by split decision. O’Connell has dropped his last two fights and he could be in over his head against Anderson. Four of the five wins by Anderson in the UFC have been by decision.

Gian Villante -185 vs. Saparbek Safarov

The one fight that could see some action on the underdog is this one as Villante opened up at -190 and he is down to -185. It is hard to know what to expect with this fight as Villante is 14-7 but he hasn’t done anything special recently going 2-2 in his last four fights. Safarov is making his UFC debut and bettors seem to think he has a shot at pulling off the upset. Three of the four wins by Villante in the UFC have been by knockout.

The preliminary fights at UFC Fight Night 102 on Friday have Justine Kish vs. Ashley Yoder, Randy Brown vs. Brian Camozzi, Gerald Meerschaert vs. Joe Gigliotti, Trevor Smith vs. Andrew Sanchez, Shane Burgos vs. Tiago Trator, Frankie Perez vs. Marc Diakiese, Ryan Janes vs. Keith Berish and Juliana Lima vs. JJ Aldrich.

Most of the prelims don’t see a ton of line movement and that should be the case again with this event especially since it is only being shown on UFC Fight Pass and because UFC 206 takes place on Saturday.

UFC Fight Night 102 takes place on Friday, December 9th at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York with all of the fights on UFC Fight Pass.
