Germany left with all to play for against Georgia in last match of Euro 2016 qualifying

Germany-vs-Georgia-Odds9

The good news for Germany is that it knows it is at least going to get one more shot to play for a spot in Euro 2016. The bad news? After nine matches against a weak group, there's no way that this match against Georgia should have meant anything. Still, on Sunday, the Germans can long last clinch the Group D title and a trip to Euro 2016 in a match which should easily be won against Georgia.

ODDS ANALYSIS

Georgia has already been eliminated from Euro 2016, but the fact of the matter is that the qualification process has been a good one for it. The team has managed nine points and is only -5 in goal differential. We grant you, the results against everyone not named Gibraltar have been terrible, but just the fact that it can finish fourth in this group of six is a big step in the right direction for a program which has been awful.

That said, thanks to the fact that Germany needs to get all three points from this match if it is to win Group D, Georgia is going to be looked upon as the sacrificial lamb. There are no odds posted on this match as of yet, but it would be surprising to see the Germans lined as anything less than three-goal favorites on the Asian handicap.

RECENT FORM

The Germans have to be wondering what went wrong on Thursday. They were beaten on the road by Ireland 1-0 in a match which probably should have been won, and now, that leaves them in a spot where they have to fight for their lives at Red Bull Arena if they want to advance. The only misstep Germany has in the calendar year of 2015 aside from this was against the United States, a somewhat surprising 2-1 loss in a friendly at home back in June. Aside from that, all of its matches have resulted in positive results, which is why it was so surprising to see that fixture against Ireland lost.

Georgia should be proud of its 4-0 win over Gibraltar on Thursday, but the fact of the matter is that the team really hasn't had great results. In fact, the last time Georgia won a match on the road was 363 days ago against that same Gibraltar team.

ANALYSIS AND PREDICTION

Joachim Low can't afford to take this game lightly, and we think that's going to play in the hands of his squad. When men like Andre Schurrle and Thomas Muller get going, this team is one which can run roughshod in a hurry.

Georgia, to its credit, did play a reasonable game against the Germans in Tbilisi, losing just 2-0 in a fixture which could have been even closer than that. The problem that the Georgians are going to run into is just getting Germany off of the ball. There just aren't enough qualified players in the midfield here, as Jaba Kankava can't do everything on his own in terms of possession.

In Germany has 70 percent of the possession again in this match, it will go through to Euro 2016 in style without much in the way of muss or fuss.
