If not for the great upset Barcelona had over PSG in the Round of 16 of the UCL, the comeback AS Monaco had against Manchester City would have been referred to as an all-timer. Now, the only French side left in the Champions League has a tremendous challenge on the road against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the quarterfinals.

Odds Analysis
With the rash of over matches here in the Champions League, it's not surprising that the total in this fixture is set at 3.5, albeit with vig of -133 on the under.
What's also not surprising is the fact that BVB is favored by a -148 margin. Dortmund is a -180 favorite to advance into the next round, so it isn't shocking that it's a relatively substantial favorite. That said, it's clear that BVB is going to be a dog on the road back in Monaco against the presumptive French champs, so this is a really important match to get out of with an advantage.
How They Got Here
Monaco has had a fantastic season, and it's going to probably beat out PSG in Ligue 1. The Red and Whites had every reason to fall flat against Manchester City. Radamel Falcao helped the team out to a 2-1 lead at the Etihad in the first leg of that home-and-home series, only to ultimately leave England down 5-3 thanks to late goals by Sergio Aguero, John Stones and Saido Mane. Still, in the return leg, it was all Monaco. The team started the scoring right away with Kylian Mbappe scoring in the eighth minute, and it only got worse for Manchester City at that point. When Tiemoue Bakayoko scored in the 77th, it was on to the last eight for a team that already survived a group of Bayer Leverkusen, Tottenham and CSKA Moscow.
Borussia Dortmund had problems of its own in the Round of 16. Benfica was never favored against BVB. The Portuguese side went up 1-0 in the first leg, but it was clear in the second leg, this wasn't going to be a joke. Borussia Dortmund came back immediately and scored in the fourth minute to level the proceedings, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged two more around a Christian Pulisic goal to put a 4-0 hurting on Benfica. BVB was never a doubt to get into the knockout rounds either, though the fact that it beat out Real Madrid in Group F with Sporting and Legia Warsaw was impressive.

This is where we're really going to see what Borussia Dortmund is made of. This team hasn't had a great year in the Bundesliga with just 50 points, and even though Aubameyang has been unbelievable this season, he can't go at this alone.
Monaco just seems to have everything going for it at this point, and the form which it is in is going to make it a tremendously tough team to oust. No, we don't think the Red and Whites are going to win the Champions League, but there's a real chance they can get out of this round. We'll take them to snare a draw on German soil, and if that's how this ultimately plays out, it's going to be incredibly tough for the fourth best team in the Bundesliga to come back and win. We wouldn't put it past them, but we'll take our chances for the time being with Monaco.
