So you're saying there's a chance?
Lloyd Christmas probably didn't have quite as good of a shot in Dumb or Dumber as Australia does of advancing in the Confederations Cup. The point is that the Aussies can advance if they beat Chile by two goals or more or get a little bit of help. But the likelihood of that happening isn't exactly stellar.
At 11 a.m. ET, tune into FOX Sports 1 for live television coverage of this Confederations Cup match on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at Otkrytiye Arena in Moscow.

Odds Analysis
Chile really doesn't have a lot of motivation here, but it does need a point or some help to mathematically ensure it will be in the knockout rounds of this tourney. If you look at this match in a vacuum, Chile should be favored by at least a goal and a half. But because of the motivation of Australia, it isn't quite that high. The Aussies are +1.25 on the Asian Handicap, translating to 7 to 1 on the moneyline.
The Copa America winners are set at -270 to take all three points and finish this group with seven of a possible nine.
The total of 3 suggests that this will end up being a match on the higher-scoring side. That shouldn't be all that shocking, knowing that the Socceroos really don't have a choice but to go for broke.
How They Got Here
Soccer "Down Under" isn't quite what it is in the rest of the world. This team knows that this is a relatively young squad, one that may or may not ultimately get to the World Cup and one that, even if it did, probably isn't going to make much in the way of progress when there.
That said, if the Aussies leave with anything more than one point from the Confederations Cup, the tournament will have to be considered a success. Australia did net two goals against Germany, albeit in a 3-2 loss, and its strike against Cameroon secured a point. But to ever think that this team could have done anything positive against either Germany or Chile would be lofty at best.
Chile, too, has basically done what it was set out to do when it came to Russia. The team had a couple nasty friendlies just before this, drawing with Russia and inexplicably losing 3-2 to Romania. That said, the Chileans took care of business against Cameroon 2-0 in the opening match of the group and mustered a 1-1 draw against Germany.

The biggest question mark coming into this tournament with Australia was whether it was going to be able to get anything going offensively, particularly with all of the younger players that were really getting their first major taste of big time international soccer. So far, those players haven't been the problem. The big issue has come at the back.
Chile really should eat this team alive, but we have a hunch it's going to ultimately slip back into the form it was in against Romania and Russia a couple weeks ago. This Chilean team is weird. It seems to really turn it on when the lights are at their brightest, yet when matches don't really matter all that much, it seems like things just aren't a big deal.
Though we think Chile will ultimately win this match and coast to the knockout round on seven points, we'd take the goal and a quarter with the Aussies and hope to secure a draw. Even if the match is lost by a goal, we'd still be in line for a 50 percent winner.
Confederations Cup Odds: Chile 2, Australia 1
