La Liga has been a horrible league to try to put out of the Champions League – and all European competitions for that matter – over the course of the last several years. This year in the UCL, Spain is guaranteed a spot in the finale. But who will be there? Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid tell the first half of their tale on Tuesday night at the Bernabeu.
This Champions League duel will go down Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 2:45 p.m. ET at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. The match will be televised live on FOX Sports 1.

Odds Analysis
These two teams haven't exactly played classics thus far this season, but this has the potential to be a far more open affair with the way the Champions League has gone of late. The total of 2.5 with -117 vig on the under tells the tale of an older Atletico Madrid team, one that was typically more physical and more negative in its approach play than the one this year has produced.
We know that Real Madrid is going to be going for some gusto here at home. Cristiano Ronaldo has been unstoppable at times around the net, and the Atleti surely won't be able to keep him quite for the full 180 minutes here in the Madrid Derby. That's why Real is set at -117 on the moneyline.
How They Got Here
It's been a really fun fide for Atletico Madrid to reach the UCL semifinals. The team outclassed Bayern Munich in the group stage of the tournament, and it went on to score four goals in its first knockout round fixture against Bayer Leverkusen on German soil. The Atleti finished off the tie at home with a scoreless draw, and it followed that up with a 2-1 result over 180 minutes against Leicester City that was far more convincing than this final score would suggest.
Real Madrid has taken a bit of a scenic route to get here into the semis. It was second best in Group F to Borussia Dortmund, but when the chips were on the table against Bayern Munich, it came to play when it had to, scoring three times in extra time to log a 6-3 win on aggregate. Napoli was the unfortunate side that had to meet Real in the Round of 16, a 6-2 exit for the Italians.

We've already alluded to the fact that we think this tie is going to be a lot more open than the previous Madrid Derbies have been this season, and this total of 2.5 doesn't seem like it's going to hold. Real Madrid has struggled for sure in La Liga over the course of the last several weeks, but it always seems to save its best for here in the Champions League. That means lots of Ronaldo, lots of Karim Benzema and lots of Alvaro Morata, even if Gareth Bale can't find his way into the lineup.
Atletico Madrid has a few more playmakers this year than in the past, and it knows that an away goal here could be crucial. Antoine Griezmann has had to go at this alone over the course of the last few years in Madrid, but Saul Niguez has been fantastic in this tournament as an attacker, and you never know when Fernando Torres is going to come up with that moment off the bench that could change the course of this entire two-legged tie.
We'll back the over, but we aren’t going to try to fancy which side will ultimately be ahead going back across town.
Champions League Odds: Real Madrid 2, Atletico Madrid 1
