Soccer Odds - United States vs. Canada Match Preview

USA-vs-Canada-Picks1

For the second time this year, the United States men's soccer team will be in action against a foe which it should be putting away with ease. This time around, it's Canada who will be coming to the StubHub Center for a friendly match which will serve as a tune-up for World Cup qualifying later in the year.

There will be awesome soccer odds at BookMaker.eu for this match on Friday.

ODDS ANALYSIS

The Americans were huge favorites against Iceland in the first game of this two-game friendly series in Carson. However, they were massive disappointments in a match which surely looked to be drawn before a 90th minute strike saved the day.

This time around, one wouldn't blame bettors for being a little hesitant. Canada's team isn't going to be quite as strong as Iceland's, but with the way the USMNT has been playing of late, even a defeat wouldn't be all that shocking.

That said, it would be a real upset if the United States was anything less than a -300 favorite on Friday.

ROSTER ANALYSIS

The Americans don’t really have the greatest roster here for these two friendly matches due to the fact that Jurgen Klinsmann is badly trying to put a team together to compete in Russia in 2018. Luis Robles and David Bingham are the two goalies of record, and neither is amongst the best three American keepers as we see it.

However, it's not like there isn't any talent here for Klinsmann to play with. Jozy Altidore and Gyasi Zardes both started up front before giving way in the second half, while Michael Bradley played the full 90 minutes. That said, we can imagine that Klinsmann is going to be taking a look at some of his unused bench players from the first match, including Mix Diskerud and Wil Trapp.

The Canadians have yet to play a friendly this year, as this is just a one-off game for them. Cyle Larin is going to headline this team with Julian de Guzman and Will Johnson. With the MLS expanding into three locations in Canada, it's clear that this is a budding soccer nation. Unlike the Americans, who are going to be using a lesser team than they norm, this roster is going to be everything which Canada can throw at the United States.

QUOTE TO NOTE

"It's certainly not the roster that's going to play Guatemala. It's not going to be the roster that's going to play the Copa America. We want to see that they develop kind of a good understanding for each other's runs, that they work off each other." – United States manager Jurgen Klinsmann on the seemingly relatively weak roster he called upon for these two soccer friendlies against Iceland and Canada

ANALYSIS AND ODDS PREDICTION

We really think the United States is going to be in trouble in this match. These two games are all about experimentation for Klinsmann, and the crowd in California isn't going to like this any. The play at the back for the Americans has been a disaster, and allowing two goals to Iceland, albeit on two fantastic strikes the quality of which you wouldn't expect to see out of that quality of foe, is unacceptable at this level.

Canada's attack is a lot better than you'd probably think, and though it has only scored a total of three goals in its last four matches, we still think that it's on its way to a couple strikes in this one. The Americans are going to have to fight hard to get a split of the spoils in this one.
